And then because we can't say too many nice things at once, here are a couple of other things I tried briefly (like 20-30 minutes each) before settling on Reigns: Her Majesty.
Lineway is a minimalist puzzle game, which I only bothered finishing like 2/3 of. It was very easy but just satisfying enough to avoid bordom for that long...and then it introduced invisible blocks, when the entire point of the puzzles in it is to plan your route through them based on their layout. Oops, suddenly your game went from mediocre to bad. Good job presenting stuff in a straightforward and easy to understand way without needing words or anything though.
And I had higher hopes for Mountain. I like weird art games that are more art than game, at least when I'm in the right mood for them, and a bunch of people had said good things about it. It might get really interesting eventually, but I'll never know. I understand that it's supposed to be kind of an idle game, but when nothing is happening, I go read stuff on Wikipedia for like 15-20 minutes, and literally nothing has changed by the time I get back...sorry, you lose, ADHD wins. If you want me to have patience you need to have some kind of hook for why I want to wait that long to see what your deal is, and nothing about it grabbed me early enough to care. Oh well.
