Surprise in the Archives today!
For those of you that remember us posting this, this might mean something to you. However, I'll break it down for everyone.
This amazing, huge, grand book that we found earlier this year is called the Antiphonarium Cisterciense, and is essentially a Latin hymn book. However, it was printed and bound in 1968 by the monks of what is now Trappist Abbey, of Our Lady of Guadalupe. These monks bind books. Big books, small books, our books, your books. They do it all.
Today, while finishing up a Sokol Blosser box for its Finding Aid, I found a document that caught my eye. This document was a contract between the Abbey and a winery. It appears that Trappist may have labeled some bottles for Sokol Blooser in the 90s!
This find may not seem relevant, but it ties Sokol Blosser, Linfield College, and Trappist Abbey together. Sokol Blosser donated to the Linfield College Archives, the archives have a book that was printed and bound by the Abbey, and the Abbey may have labeled bottles for Sokol Blosser! On top of this, Trappist Abbey does all of Linfield's book binding!
An interesting find to finish up an interesting day for me!
