Lingering Demons // closed
@sahlintalas
Talking to Sahlin had... proved to be difficult. Kaaras was busy, but he didn’t like things like this lingering. He wasn’t certain if Sahlin was just difficult to find, or making himself difficult to find since their little conversation a couple of days ago.
When Sahlin had walked out on him, the inquisitor knew he had scared the poor elf off. He’d come too forward, and it was his mistake. He would always blame himself, even if it was merely time Sahlin wanted and needed. He should have known, been more aware of the man’s needs and space. Instead, he had been a little too vocal, and forward, and it had the elf fleeing from his room.
There had been a hesitation, and Kaaras had seen it. It was like Sahlin wanted to tell him, but could not comprehend the words to say. But the letter? It was... a surprise.
As his eyes followed the words, things began to make more sense, and the blow to his chest was starting to feel a little lighter. Of course, Kaaras’ self esteem told him that no one who wasn’t qunari would want to commit to him, even Sahlin. Even with the kissing, the nakedness... everything. Take that little step too far? And it always seemed to blow up in his face. How preposterous to think that anyone would actually commit to him.
But this? It made sense. Far more sense then his paranoia and insecurities were shoving down his throat, anyway.
He couldn’t let it sit anymore. He had to talk. He’d been blunt and emotionless ever since, trying to simply forget it existed so he could get on with his work. And he did. It’s all he did: work, sleep, eat, work again. The cycle repeated. But the distraction was far better than the consequences of having a free mind at the moment to wander.
Running a hand down his face, he stood up and put the letter aside. He was going to find Sahlin. Letters were fine, sometimes people wrote better than they could say things, but Kaaras could not let this linger anymore. He needed the communication. Without it, things just became too distant for him.
He searched for Sahlin, and got word that he was hovering around in the gardens, if very discreetly. Kaaras made his way outside, seeing the elf tending to some of the plants. He cleared his throat softly to get his attention.
