Linjiang Night Market 临江街观光夜市

I think I haven't gotten enough of the night markets here in Taipei. Seems there are night markets in every district each of them has a different character. I have been to the mother of night markets in Shilin. While I thought that Shilin was a place really worth going to, it can be a bit too crowded. For people who don't like crowds, there might be some alternative places to go to. Take Linjiang Night Market as an example. This is also known as Tonghua Night Market. This seems to be one of the more well known alternative markets and I have come here to see if it has interesting stuff.

Hitchhiking China update We left Dali midday on Xmas day and headed to Linjiang. The Christmas spirit must have been shining on us that day as we finally got taken in some nice cars. First a middle aged, well to do guy dropped us off about 25km out of town. It was in his car we passed a fatal road accident a motorbike tuk tuk and an SUV. The car was messed up a bike was destroyed and a dead body was laying on the road (thankfully covered) then a younger couple took us in their SUV. It was in their car we saw another horrible accident with a scooter and car. The Rider of the scooter was being put into an ambulance. He was pretty bloody. The bus takes 4 hours and we made it in 4 hours. So we are doing pretty well. We stayed overnight In Linjiang. Its a total tourist trap, more of a Chinese theme park. Still interesting though. We then cheated a bit and took a 2 hr bus ride to the town at the start of the Tiger Leaping Gorge hike.
