on the other hand. i dont care about whatever they do with their relationship status going forward, bc they DIDNT SHY AWAY FROM SHOWING THEIR CLOSENESS.
wayyyy too many times have series gotten scared of people going "wait is this gay???" and forgo ANY shows of closeness bc of that fear. that, or they no homo it immediately afterward, which again makes it like.... doesnt feel as genuine, yknow? makes it feel like a joke. no homo should be the last thing on your mind at that point.
the bed scene? they went for it! i dont even care about anything else bc that WAS important to show rei finally joining the dynamic, him being comfortable enough to fall asleep immediately, kazuki waking up first again but not leaving like he has to do with his honeypot missions.... even with the possibility of gay allegations (regardless if those come true or not) they showed it in its 100%.
or the latest episode. the 3rd episode was all ABOUT rei accepting the papa title, so i honestly got kinda concerned bc. again. if pa works got too scared of the gay allegations, and listed rei as a family friend or uncle or something, that would completely destroy all the development we JUST saw him go through!!
BUT NO!!!!!! they 100% and fully delivered. theyre both miris papas, they have a good relationship and hang out all the time, and most importantly miri loves and is happy with them :'))) even if they do NOT do bad business. theyre partners now and whatever that means for them, we get to see their partnership development in its entirety ❤
the bof hyperfixation is KICKING MY ASS rn get me out of here

maybe i didnt make it clear enough?
buddy daddies isnt bait of any sort (so far. we only have 4 episodes anyway why are people making such sweeping claims). romantic or platonic, kazuki and rei are PARTNERS, and their development of that term is being shown in its full capacity.
if anything, buddy daddies is probably one of the MOST genuine series i personally have seen in portraying their fictional dynamic. i won't be upset if they leave the series open ended, or if they do decide to make them canonically a couple, as either way— they weren't afraid to show that these two losers DO care about each other and miri. they're a family!
if it's platonic, pa works wasn't afraid to let people interpret it as romantic. they are doing traditionally romantic actions as two fathers, and their full experience as committed partners and parents is being shown on screen. no shying away, no "no homo", they care about each other. it's not bait.
if it's romantic, they have an amazing setup with an interesting foundation that can exist even if not officially confirmed. one of the largest parts of this series is the struggles of parenthood, and that is being portrayed incredibly accurately, again, even with two fathers. kazuki and rei's dynamic is deeply interesting, and seeing it go down a romantic route would not only make sense, but also further add to the interest of the show.
either way, they are Partners. they have a future together, and are dedicated to raising their kid. this IS a queer series that so far, has not pulled any stops. unless pa works suddenly decides to idk revive the dead wife and make kazuki abandon rei or something, im very happy with the way the show has been going. this is not bait, but its also not NOT queer and interpreting it as such isnt harming anyone. even the show itself isnt afraid from letting that be an option. thats all, thanks ❤
no yeah miri's mom was NOT the ""villain"" and she definitely was not presented as such either.
with the smile spell miri mentioned earlier, and just overall despite the situation she was forced into, misaki clearly did her best with miri even with her conflicting emotions.
the only obviously "bad" choice shes made so far was sending miri, a 4 y/o all alone into the city but 💀 to some degree the thought of sending her to be with her dad is also. yeah. like shes not in a place where she can take care of miri properly, and even if miri seemed to be some sort of... bargaining chip?? miris dad has the resources to help miri more than her mom could
and kazuki isnt the ""good guy"" either nor was the situation presented as so black and white. both parties said things that they've internalized due to their own separate situations, and while kazuki was mostly projecting due to his own losses and experiences, itd be good if he manages to learn about some other worldviews.
but yeah tldr: neither misaki nor kazuki were villains, and they werent PRESENTED as such either. they just said whatever and you the viewer have to interpret it.
i am aware a lot of series often demonize women who dont want their children or are in similar situations etc. but thats not what happened here luckily
at least its confirmed that miri can bypass anything even the only one bed rule. fic writers can go wild she'd 100% parent trap-esque them
chaeya and zhongluc at the same time is literally the funniest shit to happen ever
