               he’s a little bit nervous, but he didn’t cart jim all the way out to georgia to back out now. having his daughter and his boyfriend meet is like introducing one half of his life to the other, and it’s terrifying. joanna’s older now - she’s a teenager. she has opinions beyond those relating to colours as animals. they’re probably going to get along like a house on fire, but leonard is still worried. “jim, this is, uh - this is joanna. joanna, this is jim.” he really had no reason to worry. she steps forward, polite as ever, and holds her hand out - all southern charm. “it’s mighty nice t’ meet y’, captain.”

                “jesus, jim-- that’s the second time you’ve stepped on my damn toe.” he holds one of jim’s hands in his own, the other settled on his waist, and he gives him a look that informs him that one more crushed toe will be the end of all this. “slow dancin’ ain’t that hard. listen, alright?” he shows him again, slowly, the four box steps of a waltz. he doesn’t know why jim wants to know, but leonard was happy to teach him. happy enough, until jim decided to break his damn toes.

              waiting for their ship to be repaired is boring; it’s made even more boring by her boyfriend spending his evenings in the lab. hence why she’s here, on kirk’s doorstep, with beer and takeout and the offer of watching a holo together. she rings the doorbell, and waits, pulling her sweater down a little with one hand.

top tip: banks like natwest are amazing because they do money transfers on Saturday, meaning you get your student loan a bit early - which is a lifesaver sometimes!

my friend told me to go for santander?? they give you a free rail card and last year they had like the best interest rates or smth idk

               he’s used to all of jim’s minor maladies, reactions and injuries, but he will never, ever get used to this. his hands, holding jim’s broken bones together, bathed in his lover’s blood as he tries desperately to keep him alive. he moves alongside the bed that one of the nurses wheels, his hands pressed to jim’s wounds, his eyessettled on his face. “jim, you bastard, you stay with me, y’ here? don’t even think about goin’ anywhere.”
