Hydaelyn’s chosen had traveled to many places, from the western shores of Eorzea to the eastern lands of Doma, in his adventures to explore the world and his quest to save the realm from destruction, but he can surely say he’d never seen such a sight before him. The adventurer has seen many oddities from floating metallic islands that carried several smaller slands in the sky to underwater cities enclosed within a giant bubble that seemed to hold the sea back. He has fought against false gods - Primals - that brands the hearts and souls of every sentient creature it touches, legions of imperial soldiers wielding all manner of various weaponry and machinery, demons and fiends that prey upon the living, shadowless wraiths that spread chaos throughout the realm, and even powerful warriors from other worlds.
The city-state before him resembled a mix between Ul’dah, Ala Mhigo and Ishgard all rolled into one but on a scale much larger than any of the cities he’s visited since he began his journey. Here, standing in the middle of what appeared to be a park of some kind, he glanced up upon a veil that rippled over the metropolis of steel and stone - a barrier? - he knew he was not on either continents of Aldenard or Othard. For a brief moment, he thought he was warped to somewhere within Ilsabard, within the heart of Garlemald and the Garlean Empire but instantly squashed that thought upon closer inspection of the structures.
Odd. I am certain I warped back to Ul’dah. Now, where have I landed myself?
It was almost impossible to teleport to any distant location without an Aetherite Crystal, especially if one has yet to attune themselves to it, and he was sure he has never been to a place like this before in his travels. Logic dictates he would cast Return or Teleport to warp back to known locations, but he had no way of knowing if such a method of transport was safe to use after experiencing the spell displace him somewhere he didn’t intend to travel to.
Placing his left hand by his ear, he spoke through the linkshell he used to communicate between the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
“Alisae, there seems to be a problem.” No response. Instead, what sounded akin to static could only be heard. “Alisae,” he repeated, still yielding the same results. “Lyse? Arenvald? Krile?” Nothing. No response, even after waiting for a few seconds. “Is anyone there?!” And still nothing. Nothing but static.
Dropping his arms to his side, the Warrior of Light frowned in both confusion and worry. The linkpearl was either not working or it was being jammed, and only a few things in the world could disrupt such devices.
Has something happened to them? Or is something else at work here?
Gazing back upon the city, he decided his next course of action would be to gather enough information to see where on Hydaelyn he had warped himself to. And such answers would likely be found within the metropolis.
The city itself was crowded, much more so than and of the City-States he’s familiar with combined, all filled with objects he’s never seen before. Wagons that moved with a lack of Chocobos, people dressed in strange attire that seemed only fit for royalty and in an array of colors that would be too expensive for the common folk to purchase.
He had stopped a passerby to question them, and was met with a queer stare, but Meteor nevertheless questioned the man whose accent seemed to be of a mix between Garlean and Eorzean, but not quite. He had stopped to ask many that passed him by until he soon drew a crowd talking about him and his garments behind his back.
“What a strange man.” “Look at those clothes.” “Is he cosplaying?” “Hey, isn’t that Cor? It looks like him.” “What was he saying to you?” “Is he lost?”
Heaving a sigh, he caught many conversations going off at once that it became difficult to keep up, and so he decided to move to the next location to gather information. So far, the information he’s gathered was unhelpful to aid him.
