On Thin Ice

“I still think this is a bad idea, Dem.” Flug rubbed his shoulders from the intense winter chill that swept the air. Frosting glazed his goggles and bag like icing sugar. They were outside on one of the coldest days. Of course Dimencia couldn’t choose a day less frigid.

“We’re lucky the boss let us put a bit of holly up. A Christmas Tree is really pushing it.”

The woman smelled like fresh hair dye and whatever the heck Marceline used to polish her guitars with, and that had made it easy to detect and locate her in the vast forest... that and she was being incredibly, obnoxiously loud.

      “That’s  manzanilla de la muerte-- it’ll kill you, or at least swell your esophagus up so bad you won’t be able to breathe.” The half-dryad hummed lightly, looking the woman over inquisitively. She looked, possibly, human, the animal-hide hat looked a lot like what many of the humans used to wear around Ooo in order to protect themselves from vampire bites; but the only human she really knew was Finn and some of his newly-arrived friends.

     “Hey... have we met before?” She figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask. ➳🍃
