LISTICLE RUNDOWN: Winter Street Style From The Fall 2015 Shows
Before I get started, I realized I've never explained something. The couture fashion shows held last month are the "Fall 2015" fashion shows. Basically, the idea is that everyone is showing their designs for six months from now. So the shows in September will be for "Spring 2016" rather than the season they are actually in. Make sense?
Okay, now that the title of this list is explained, let's take a look! Winter Street Style From The Fall 2015 Shows
Tip: Balance the boyish nature of oversize layers with a structured shirt in a feminine silhouette. I really can't emphasize "balance" enough. Pick one (maybe two) outsize things, in this case a huge coat, and then fitted and simple for everything else. It's really the best shortcut to appearing stylish that anyone can give you.
Tip: Layer a cozy knit under a vest. I do not get sleeveless coats. If you choose to wear one, by all means wear a sweater so you don't get frostbite on your arms.
Tip: Belt your jacket at the hip instead of the waist. I'm just not down with this one, sorry. Honestly, the example looks silly to me.
Tip: Layer a couple of coats for a bold, chic and—most importantly—warm outcome. As someone who is always freezing, I really want to try this. I think the key is to have a more fitted coat underneath, and color coordinate.
Tip: Stripes are a cool-girl go-to that instantly add interest to an outfit. They're also the perfect print choice when mixing and matching patterns. LOVE stripes. And they really are the "neutral" of patterns, so the idea of using them as the base for bringing in another pattern or two is genius.
Tip: Infuse your outfit with a pop of glam by adding a faux-fur accessory in a fun hue. Faux fur FTW!
Tip: Add shape to a bulky winter coat by belting it at the waist. This really looks great in the example - go for it!
Tip: Liven up a practical, otherwise simple, cold-weather ensemble with a vibrant knit. Again, balance!
Tip: Elevate any winter look via eye-catching add-ons. I'm assuming they mean the shiny shoes. I will never be against shiny shoes.
Tip: Forgo a monochrome coat for a whimsical, printed option. For sure, though I recommend neutrals like this for the print so it will coordinate with more ensembles.
Tip: Layer an oversize faux-fur coat over a formfitting jacket. More faux! And a repeat (layering) on the list!
Tip: Amp up an all-black outfit with a boot rendered in an exotic skin. Reptile has been hot for awhile now. Go faux for this, too!
Tip: Pairing stripes with stripes yields a perfectly polished outcome. I had to search for the second striped item - that scarf is subtle! Another repeat (a stripe with other patterns).
Tip: Make like a street-style star by doubling up on faux-fur, statement-making pieces. Eh, I don't recommend it.
Tip: Wear your favorite booties with ankle socks. Normally I'd say no, but I have to admit it looks cute here. Risky but could be worth a try!
Tip: Add visual interest to a monochromatic outfit with a textured separate. YES. Also, this entire outfit needs to get in my closet.
Tip: Feminize a duster coat by wearing it with a cute minidress. Good advice, though I'm not a fan of the example.
Tip: Pair pleats with vertical stripes for an elongating effect. Another one I think would be hard to pull off.
Tip: A hint of print takes a drab winter ensemble to fab in a flash. Definitely!
Tip: Layer leather pants under a dress for added warmth—and a dose of edge. Leather pants are really shiny leggings, which are really thick tights. So okay, worth a shot.
