- PRELIMS 1.Levying of service charge in hotels and restaurants Hotels or restaurants shall not add service charge automatically or by default in the food bill. No collection of service charge shall be done by any other name. No hotel or restaurant shall force a consumer to pay service charge and shall clearly inform the consumer that service charge is voluntary, optional and at consumer’s discretion. 2.Start-Up Ranking of States 2021 The DPIIT has been conducting the States’ Start-up Ranking Exercise since 2018 to facilitate the ease of building a start-up and doing business across the country.For the purpose of the Ranking, States and Union Territories are classified into 5 Categories, viz. 1.Best Performers, 2.Top Performers, 3.Leaders, 4.Aspiring Leaders 5.Emerging Start-up Ecosystems. 3.Digital India Week 2022 The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Digital India Week 2022, whose theme is ‘Catalyzing New India’s Techade’ in Gandhinagar ‘Digital India Bhashini’ will enable easy access to the internet and digital services in Indian languages, including voice-based access, and help the creation of content in Indian languages. 4.Operation “NARCOS” The RPF launched the operation NARCOS in the month of June 2022, for bringing attention to the menace of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. It was a month-long pan India drive, launched against smuggling of narcotics through rail. RPF, in coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau, intensified its checks in trains and at identified black spots across the country. Other law Enforcement Agencies were also a part of the operation, in a bid to target drug peddlers involved in illegal trade of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance.
