Sometimes I binge watch 90s talk shows especially ones with titles like"Help Me My Gothic Daughter Is A Freak!" or "My Son Wears Makeup and Listens to Marilyn Manson" and when I watch it I always feel bad for the kids on the show particularly the ones who are kinda forced into getting "makeovers".

These episodes bothered me so much because the parents humiliated and talked down on their OWN kids to strangers on national tv just because they were scared of what their neighbors and friend would think. One girl literally said, "I just like dressing and being unconventional" and her mom was like "I didnt have a problem with it at first but then I sorta became embarrassed by the stares and I worry about what my friends would think of my family."

I will never get over the fact that these parents chose other peoples opinions over their own kids happiness and self expression.
