David laid in his room and stared at the abundance of dinosaurs scattered about the floor. It was times like this where he wish he had a brother, or, at least an affectionate father. Ever since Barnabas came into his life, the young Collins felt less like the family disappointment and more apart of the family. Although he was weird, David admired the way he could bring the family together, without killing each other.
Now that the subject was fresh in his mind, David realized he had not gotten the chance to discuss Barnabas with his sister. Jillian hadn’t said anything concerning Barnabas, but maybe that was just for David’s sake. The boy sat up, but in a very slouched position. A quizzical expression washed over his pale face. I wonder if she sees him how Carolyn does or how Aunt Elizabeth does. David decided that he was curious enough to go to his sister and ask, after all, unlike the rest of the household, David didn’t feel scared or like a nuisance when it came to Jillian. With a sigh and a shrug, he left the sanctuary of his bedroom, to seek out his sister. It wasn’t much of a search. David knew she’d, more than likely, be reading in her room; some book that he’d probably never heard of.
When he arrived in front of her bedroom door, David realized the door was slightly cracked open. Seeing that it was that way because she probably wanted to be left alone, David started back towards his room, but stopped after only a few steps in the opposite direction. Should I? he thought, why not? With a shrug and a little smirk, David stepped into front of the door and gave a faint tap, so the door would not open, but she would still know he was outside.
“Jill?” his voice came quietly trough the door. “Can I come in? I want to ask you something.”
