“Kay?”
He’d been expecting the young girl to make an appearance for the past half an hour, but apart from a brief description from Kaz, Wylan wasn’t exactly sure what she looked like. However, the child lingering just a short distance away from his workshop appeared to be searching for something, so he imagined she had to be the one he was meeting.
“I’m Wylan,” He continued with a warm smile, glancing past her to see if he could spot Kaz lurking nearby. “Did Kaz walk you here, then leave?” He knew the Bastard of the Barrel had a boat to catch, but he could have at least stopped long enough to say hello.
Wylan turned back to the child and stepped aside, leaning against the door to keep it open. “You can come in. I just have a few things to grab, then we can get going.” He knew quite a bit about how Kay had come to be in Kaz’s care; a kidnapped youth who Inej had found stowed away on a slaver boat. Unfortunately, she’d been subjected to jurda parem experimentation and the results awakened her dormant Grisha powers. With nowhere else to stay, she'd been left with Kaz who had been teaching her how to survive Ketterdam.
“Have you had lunch yet?” He asked as he stepped into the workshop, heading down the steps and over to his table. Most of his demo equipment had been packed up and stored into cabinets, but a few beakers and general apparatus remained that he wanted to transport to his new workshop back at the mansion.
