A Valentine's exchange gift I made <3
I'm in a TNBC server that @tnbc-thoughtsandheadcanons owns and there was a Valentine's secret exchange event taking place not so long ago, so I drew this for my Valentine who's known as Zachary.Le.Artist on Discord (They're ask prompt was the ship Jack x Sally as they experienced a calming rainy day)
My prompt was a double date between Jack and Sally with the TNBC versions of Lightning McQueen and Sally Carrera
(Painted these blorbos btw :3👇)
And with that, the secret Valentine I got who's known as Misa1 on discord (You can also find her on Blue Sky as maryadmd.bsky.social) kindly wrote me a little oneshot of the prompt I asked for that I want to share with y'all :)
Oneshot starts here ⬇️
Halloweentown was a place one didn’t typically “end up”, unless you happened to take a particularly wrong turn on your way off the mortal coil. It was an even less likely destination for a car. Some say cars are lucky in that way. The roads to their ever-after are clear and unblemished, stretching into eternity under a golden sun. You would have to be especially stubborn or fractious to resist.
Lightning McQueen resisted. Back in the ordinary world, his crumbled red metal body was assessed and fretted over by emergency vehicles at the side of the racetrack. He’d been hit hard; spun like a top against the wall before slamming back into the center fence. Lost in a foggy haze, he faintly heard an announcer’s voice booming:
“Is Lightning McQueen no more?”
He’d laughed at that. What was that guy on? Clearly, Lightning McQueen was doing just fine! He was in fact, ahead of everyone! He was so far ahead, he couldn’t even see them anymo-…
In that moment he realized he was no longer at the track, but where on earth was he? How did he get here? Even in his confusion, he couldn’t help but register the impossible smoothness of the black top under his tires. It was easily the nicest he’d ever traveled upon. It was smooth as butter, without so much as an errant pebble. And the sky! Why couldn’t he ever find skies like this to drive under with Sally? All around him glowed most glorious California sunset. It was almost like… heaven.
He slammed on his brakes, leaving black smears on the pristine highway.
“Nooo No No No!!!” he shouted, despite no other car anywhere nearby to hear. Revving his engine, he swerved backward, shooting off the side of the perfect road and driving into an abyss. He had to get back home.
Lightning drove on for what had felt like hours. The blissful sunset soon gave way to dusk, and finally the blackest night he could imagine. He slowed to a crawl, lest he hit something as the shadows swallowed him. It was there in that darkest dark that he’d met The Pumpkin King.
“But couldn’t you turn on your lights?” asked Sally Skellington, tilting her head. She didn’t know much about motorized vehicles, though she expected most had lamps of some kind. The only car she saw on any regular basis was the Mayor’s reliable old hearse.
“He doesn’t have lights!” Sally Carrera answered, laughing.
“Well, race cars don’t usually need them!” countered Lightning. “Have you ever seen a dark racetrack? Anyway, most fun places have lights, right?”
“Oh, I don’t know.” Jack Skellington chuckled. “We seem do fine in the dark, here in Halloweentown.”
“Eh, yeah. No offense.” Lightning said sheepishly. “And hey, obviously this place is an exception, or I wouldn’t have wanted to bring Sally back here to see it! My Sally, that is.”
“We were all just so grateful the mechanical staff was able to bring him back!” said Sally Carrera. “But all he kept talking about was this town where he’d ended up! We all thought he must have cracked his head gasket! I can hardly believe we’re here!“
“Well, we’re delighted to have you, though it did take some doing!” said Jack, waving his hand. “I don’t make a habit of escorting guests through the tunnels that lead to our home, but after we met, I decided to make an exception! How could I not? Someone else with a Sally! I perhaps should have done something different with the costumes, but I try to help guests fit in. ”
The pair of cars exchanged glances. Upon arrival in Halloweentown, they realized their usual paintjobs were transformed to look…more or less…like their hosts.
“Oh, I don’t know.” said Lightning. “I mean, white and black are never out of style for a car, and stripes…well, they make you go faster, right?”
“I’ve always felt that way.” Jack said, with a serious nod.
“It’s so fancy.” Sally Carrera said, crossing her eyes in an attempt to see the patchwork prints on her hood.
“Do you think?” asked Sally Skellington. “It’s funny though, isn’t it? We’re both blue.”
“I’ve never met another Sally before now.” said the Porsche.
“I haven’t either. Do you think we’re all pale blue?”
“Anything is possible!” Jack declared. “I suppose we should be getting you two back home. I’m never quite certain of the safety of anyone from the other side remaining here in Halloweentown for too long. Nevertheless, I’m so glad we could have this visit!”
“For sure!” said Lightning. “Thanks so much for having us. Both of us! This way Sally won’t worry about me being crazy and dreaming this whole place up, right? And anyway, we know the best guys have a Sally in their life, am I right?”
“Indubitably!” Jack Skellington replied.
