There’s a bit of a stand-off in Johanna’s living room on this fine spring morning.
He’s seated nice and comfortable in the recliner, his cup of tea in one hand as he gazes out the window and into nature. Each time he looked out the window he swore he could see a different critter making itself known. He could see Starly flitting among the cypress, a Pachirisu scurrying among the juniper ; it was all so relaxing to observe, even for a restless man like himself.
Yet, as he stared at the fauna beyond the window, there was a little critter staring at him. A paw batted at Palmer’s leg, then a mrow, a certain needy cat making itself known.
"Yes?” Palmer pulls his gaze away from the outdoors and down to Johanna’s Glameow, who had seated itself on the floor in front of his feet - it seems that someone was a bit grumpy that their spot was stolen.
Mrow.
“No, I’m not moving.”
Mrow.
“You can sit with me, but I won’t give you the spot.”
That answer clearly wasn’t good enough for the cat, for the fur along its back bristled and it batted at Palmer’s leg once more.
“Yes, I know this is normally your spot.” Mrow. “But right now this is my spot.”
@littlesilverplatinum / @obliviouskind - @forgxtemall Sent Some Love !
Plat (@littlesilverplatinum/obliviouskind) has to be one of the kindest, funniest, and most dedicated muns I’ve ever come across in the RPC! They are a phenomenal writer, someone who always assists me into delving further into my own portrayals, and serves as a huge inspiration to me and my work! Their writing is A+, which only compliments the rich story he has for both Hikari, Cyrus & all the other NPCs that accompany their main muses. It’s always a blast, and I feel honored to have met this wonderful bean & his work! - Forgxtemall
Percy had decided to take a break from work and take a little vacation to Johto. It was a region he had been before, so he was actually pretty excited to visit again. He went to his one of his favorite spots to study, Ruins of Alph. It was interesting to see a mix of two different cultures in one ruin considering how Johto and Sinnoh have different beliefs.
He didn’t worry much of the wandering Unown around the vicinity. He kept Feu out of her pokeball to help ward them off since she’s a ghost type. But still, some still would be curious and come up around him.
He had a notepad out, a pencil tapping the pad as he studied the ruined structures. He had some notes scribbled down, and he had been there since early morning.
Feu, keeping watch for any wild Pokemon, noticed a girl walking by. Feu tilted slightly as if trying to figure out whether or not this girl was someone looking for a battle or also exploring. She hovers around Percy, trying to alert him that someone else had decided to join them, letting him decide what they should do about the stranger.
Noticing that Feu is trying to alert him of something, Percy looks over his shoulder to see what exactly it was that caught Feu’s attention. His look starts at her feet before looking up to see actually who it is. However, his eyes don’t stop at her face, as he noticed she appeared to have a shadow looming over her. His eyes wandered up, no longer looking at her until he stops at the top of the shade. At first, he thought it was just her shadow, but it seemed alive.
He quickly shifts his gaze back down to the girl’s face. He didn’t want to draw attention that he saw something else. For all he knew, it was his hallucinations acting up again. He would have to write a quick note in his notepad to start taking his medicine again. However, he could still feel the shade’s almost seeming to be watching him.
A quick, small smile appears on his face, not wanting to put the other at unease. He didn’t expect anyone else to be here, or at least anyone to be approaching him. Why did this girl seem to look familiar to him?
❛ Oh, um, hello? Can I help you? Are you here to explore, too? ❜
“I did the right thing- didn’t I? She really was the only one who could’ve stopped it all...”
Admitedly these daydreams started long before they even set out from Twinleaf town- Hikari wasn’t just his best friend to him for a long time, the cupid did his thing- and he had been shot by a love arrow.
She was beautiful, somehow always looking stunning in his eyes. On top of being such a good friend- in fact, she most definetely is the best person he has ever met in his life so far (so caring, so gentle, so lovable.). If those two reasons weren’t enough to justify falling for her, then her battle skills would seal the deal for him.
The way she battled him with her pokemon- her commands, the timing! It was almost as if she were the living embodiment of his father’s teachings. After every battle- Barry was always left slightly flustered, at a complete loss for words in regards to what he had just witnessed and gone through.
Despite losing every battle with Hikari so far in their journey, he was never put down by it- if anything he only felt even more motivated to keep his chin up and continue aimming to give his best.
The boy dreams of owning all the 8 badges, he dreams of facing the Elite four and becoming the champion alongside Hikari.
He dreams of flattering her with his battle skills- stealing her heart! Have her falling for him! He dreams of a love confession from her!
... He can accept an improvision of it of course, by the looks of it- she has already left him awestruck by these battles... More than once.
In fact- the one point in this journey, he felt the closest to spill everything out to her was at the pokemon contest they both got to compete against each other back at Hearthome city. Everything about that girl was shinning to him- truly, that ribbon belonged to her from the moment she stepped on stage.
Hikari felt like a dawn, the moment the sun shows up in the sky, in his life.
Comforting, supporting, soothing, inspiring- something that couldn’t do any wrong.
This is why after they both defeated Mars and Jupiter together, instead of using the leftovers of his healing items- he opted to tend to her pokemons’ wounds. His faith and hope had been deposited on her.
“Now you go, and kick that lunatic’s ass Hikari!”
... And come back safely.
He had no clue what happened shortly after his departure.
He didn’t stay to watch Cyrus’ madness unfold, nor the portal to the distortion world to be opened, nor Giratina’s reveal and especially not the moment his beloved Hikari stepped into that world.
It is only after Barry steps out of Sunnyshore’s gym that he catches wind of the news, the 8th badge is still sparkling new in his hand- but his mind wasn’t in tune with his achievement at all.
Not when the news on a TV at the pokemon center is reporting on the Mt.Corotnet incident- Cynthia, the champion who had ventured into the distortion world was fine- and talking to the press. But- where is Hikari?
Immediately he feels his chest tighten, his eyes widen- with tears starting to form.
He couldn’t believe in what he was hearing.
‘I regret to inform, but the trainer who accompanied me through the portal- Hikari Otsu... Didn’t make out of it. She died in an accident that was out of my control...’
Right there- his world stopped for a long moment, he couldn’t hear nor feel anything. As all of his memories with her played right there, in front of his eyes- her voice is still crispy and clear within his mind.
He didn’t even realise that people were staring at him, they were all looking at this crying child. Who- as soon as he returns to himself, and realises it simply darts out of the establishment.
There is no longer a dream- his dream ended right there.
Screw the pokemon League, his badges, his accomplishments- what is the point on them? If Hikari is no longer with them?
The boy- who was described as being energetic, who couldn’t stand people being slow- not even in the slightest. Would take a slow regress to back home- taking his time with heading back home.
Eventually within two weeks, he made it to Twinleaf town- which honestly hurt the most to him. Everything about this place- reminded him of her. Barry took a painstakingly slow walking pace towards his home, once by the entrance he knocked on the door- and would be immediately greeted by a much needed tight hug from his mother.
“Ma... She... She... Hikari is...”
“Shh... I know... I know sweetheart...”
Her touch and words are soothing and calming by nature- allowing him to cry on her shoulder, like the child- that he really is.
But having to mourn the love of his life’s passing like a man.
@littlesilverplatinum has sent: -Bc I'm a slut for this theme: Write meta regarding religion/religous beliefs - all muses-
send me a topic to write a meta about my muse on [Always accepting, specify muse]
// Guess I’ll have to answer to this across all of my other blogs as well JHBSDJHBSD
// Agatha was born in a traditional family for her time- meaning religion was a big thing during her childhood, however she never truly developped any resemblance of faith. She was the odd one out of her siblings (she used to have other 5), instead of dedicating her time to the church/her faith- she actually dedicated it on her studies
Interestingly- it may have been this lack of faith in her life, that allowed her to study ghost types in a critical- analytical manner.
I like to imagine that a reason, for ghost types not being as well- researched as the other ones could have something to do with their existance likely clashing with religious beliefs. Making them into some kind of taboo in most regions, so there is a certain resistance to seeking them out as research subjects.
TLDNTR: Agatha’s contact with religion is pretty limited to her childhood- her time living in her parents’ household, once she left it- she abandoned it completely. Even to this day, she has never opted out of this decision.
Read more bc of the length.
// Much like Agatha, he too was raised by religious parents. That as expected- didn’t take Blaine’s carreer interest too well, in his case- there was a huge intereference from his parents in an attempt to hold him back from it.
From trying to talk him out of it, to dragging him into religious cults- to try and convert him. Despite all of their attempts, Blaine succeeded in getting into college- and away from their grasp. Needless to say how becoming a scientist- was pretty much the death of his bond with his parents. There were attempts to try and amend things later on, but- they all flew past Blaine- who was way too keen on his studies/researches/trainning.
“As a scientist, I am not trying to find- nor explain God. I’m here to deny his existance.”
It’s safe to say how after his experience with his parents, he has become spiteful- of just about anyone who holds a religious belief (regardless of what it could be). In his eyes, they look ignorants- making fools of themselves- sheep in a herd. He looks down upon them all. Interestingly, the only ones who seem to be the exception to this are Pryce and mr.Fuji.
ALSO when the case of the Mewtwo project, was brought into the public’s knowledge- the religious crowd in Kanto were amongst the first ones to condemn the experiment solely off their beliefs.
Pryce alongside his wife and children hold religious beliefs, they have faith. They were introduced since very early on their lives- and did the same thing to their kids.
Contrary to what people expect- his faith NEVER got in the way of his studies when he was going through the process of applying to the professor position. If anything, he cherished the fact he could comprehend/study their God’s creations.
Pryce’s faith serves AS A MAJOR inspiration for his artistic work, a few of his ice sculptures carry a heavy religious subject/them to them or depict a scene from their myths/religion’s story.
Don’t assume that his passion for his faith, makes him into some kind of radical religious man- he is incredibly level-headed. And isn’t shy to show how his faith, has influenced him in certain aspects.
Team magma was some kind of cult- Tabitha’s faith was entirely poured onto Maxie, he acted and behaved just like a fanatic. Seeing their Leader fail miserably, was his wake up call.
Tabitha before joining the organization, he had a pretty empty head- his parents didn’t even bother to introduce him to a religion.
He was very easily PERSUADED BY TEAM MAGMA’S PROMISES.
Even after this whole fiasco- Tabitha has never joined any cult/religion. He really doesn’t wish to return, to what he used to be.
// Being part of a kalosian family, but born into Hoenn- a far away land from his parents’ homeland meant that there weren’t much- if any at all places where they could follow their faith.
Juan is the middle sibling- meaning that he and his younger sister, had literal no contact with religion. The same can’t be said for the older brother- who had some of it, very early on his life.
To an extent this was benefential for Juan- he never struggled with coming into terms with his own sexuality, and he could have a neutral look into art and performances when he was studying it.
Truly the only time in his life he had the most contact with it, was during his time in Kalos- when he was in college. Since then, his contact with it, has been kept to a minimun.
Palmer isn’t all that different from Pryce- as in he was introduced since very early on his life, he and his wife follow their religion- as much as they can. But he opted, to keep his son out of it- keeping his contact with it minimun.
He decided to leave it up for his son- if he is interested in it, then they will give him their teachings. But so far, it is pretty evident how Barry isn’t showing any interest to it anytime soon.
Currently he isn’t as religious as he used to be, which isn’t a good thing in his eyes- he really wished he had the time to dedicate some time to his faith.
Religion for Riley, is an interesting case. In both households he was raised in- arceusism has ALWAYS been present- especially in his mother’s. Who would “use” it, as some kind of shield from what Riley was.
She really was affected, after his father left her before their child was even born. She saw Riley, as some form of God’s punishment for her sins. After he was taken away from her, she went on to try and become a nun at a church- in an attempt to redeem herself.
At his adoptive family- things were a whole lot tamer, they weren’t as driven by their faith as his mother was. For the most part he ignored religion, for the exception of the subject of rebirth- something that compliments his belief of being related to Sir. Aaron.
The belief of being the legendary knight’s rebirth, is definetely fed by all the stories within the arceusism. He uses them in some distorted way, to support his idea.
His interpretation is the only correct one, he won’t even give a care about others. Try to deny it, and you’re bound to find yourself trapped in a nonsensical argument- clearly nothing more than just RIley’s projections of what he deems to be right/the truth.
Brendan has never followed any religion- but travelling the world, has given him the chance to get a taste of what is out there! He is most definetely intrigued by it, and finds them to be fascinating.
His mother wanted him to be introduced to it, when they still were living in Johto- however her plans didn’t come into fruition due to them moving into Hoenn sometime later. It frustrated her, but at the same time, never mopped about it.
If anything, now that her son is exploring the world- she can’t help but be thrilled by his fascination to the religions found throughout the regions.
When Rowan set out to go through his evolutions research, he NEVER had any goal to go against the arceusism’s views of the world and creation. Because for the longest time, he used to be a believer/follower of it- however it was his interaction with people that drove him out of his faith.
But look and behold- he managed to put out something, that basically goes against the principle of the World’s creation. Because of it, he was shunned out of the cult- and to this day there is a huge resistance to accepting his thesis/work.
A newly wed couple, is gifted a pokemon egg- as a sign of their union by the church. This is how Rowan came to obtain a Togepi, who later evolved into his Togekiss- which was gifted to them by his parents.
Thankfully- not having his religious belief around, it meant less one thing he had to be concerned/stressed about when he came to have his affair with Richard.
-Desperation was an ugly thing, particularly to a man who relied so heavily on his ability to calm and collected. It wasn’t becoming of royalty to act in such base, common mannerisms and he knew that if his mother could see him now, she would remind him of the failure he’d grown to become. And yet when he stood on the edge of a knife, struggling to stay standing after three consecutive nights without sleep, desperate was but one of many things he found himself becoming with frightening ease.-
-His stomach c l e n c h e d at the all-too-familiar temptation and there was something like the sound of glass shattering in his ears as THEY laughed. His eyes drooped with yearning for slumber and, even on his feet, he knew he would slip under that need if he didn’t find something to keep him awake. Staggering steps took him hastily from the throne room, down into the library room, and through the doorway to his mother’s office. She was the only one who knew what might be coming-- the prophecy must have told her something about why her Hero Child was so important-- and so it was through her notes he prayed he might find his salvation.
-He spent weeks searching for his answers, succumbing to the nightmare of sleep each time his body could stand it no longer. Visions of his mother, of his sister, of his kingdom were twisted and vilified against him, leaving him weary, distrustful, empty when at last he wrested control back from THEM. Each time he woke, he was a little there, a little less himself as he tried to cobble together the pieces and face a new day. He couldn’t carry on like this. Time would be his undoing if the foul and sickening nightmares didn’t steal what remained of his sanity first.
-When at last he found some semblance of an answer, it was little more than a rumor entirely unrelated to the Queen or her foretold child. Something about a remnant of the Temple of Light, burning brightly in defiance of the Hero Queen’s refusal to acknowledge the faith, a source of Light untouchable by mortal men.-
-The rage which boiled in his veins turned them black as pitch as he read the report and he watched as his skin mottled with the corruption within. Whatever it was that could be found in this hidden grotto, his desire to discover it was haunted by the anger that so foul a threat might exist. He couldn’t shield his delight in this new possibility of burning the darkness out, but if THEY were intent on punishment for his audacity, THEY were blessedly silent.
-The journey north-east was long and arduous. Brightwall was well beyond the borders of Bowerstone and the remote location of a temple of monks-- whose existence was a mere rumor at best-- did not make for an easy trek and search. Surrounded by a contingent of elite guards, he and his entourage camped in the forests once belonging to the Dwellers for nearly a fortnight before, at last, a hitherto undocumented trail was discovered. Logan himself lead the charge, avoiding the concerned looks of his men as he barreled into unknown territory in clear and obvious desperation.
-The ‘temple’ was a lie. It was little more than a log cabin in the heart of a sprawling wood where it was far too easy to get lost. A collection of buildings surrounded it, all smaller than the central house, and from their insides, a handful of robed men stepped into view as the sound of unfamiliar hoofbeats drew their attention. What they would see was the crowned king astride a dark black horse, sword drawn, as another fifteen men caught up and barricaded the entrance to the grove.-
I am Logan, King of Albion and rightful ruler of this land. You will attend me and obey my command or my men will run you through. I come seeking the Light Untouchable and you will bring it forth.
-Memories have the tendency to distort your view of the world, relying more on reminiscence and nostalgia than reality; and Hikari certainly was an offender in this regard. For memories of Cyrus, though not all pleasant, lingered with her to this day.
--Something that perhaps wasn’t odd, as barely a year had come to pass since she took on the responsibility of fighting him within Giratina’s domain.
Mindlessly, the fingers grasped within his own twitched and sought something to hold on to. To finger at and touch. Because, though she would never admit to it, the memory caused some stress. Minor such stress, but stress nonetheless…-
-That she got her wish granted caused a calm to fall over her – until pain took it over.-
-Just as quickly as Archer, she reacted, removing her hand from his to press it against the gentle swell of her chest. A step to the side, away from him – and rain dribbled down over her scalp and into the collar of her shirt. Down her spine (causing a rather noticeable arch to her posture for but a moment), to the elastic band of her skirt.
--A shiver shook through her small frame, yet it wasn’t enough to take her away from the feeling of utter… confusion.-
“Muscle… spasm.”-She mimicked, gaze dropping to his arm. Her grasp of his other loosened ever so slightly, more subconsciously than consciously. The thought of having it squeezed at the bend of his arm a little too intimidating.- “I- That’s alright, no worries.”
-Still her grasp didn’t return to what it had been.-
“I suppose you’re right… I don’t, well, I- I don’t personally really believe in any of it anyways.”
-And that was truly all she had to say on that. Because the moment was over, the memories tainted once more.
--Perhaps it was better that way anyways.-
-The return of his, admittedly, charming behavior did set her back on course however. Enough to once more take in the sights around her. Sights that quickly disappeared as they entered a juncture not so unlike those back home. On the tiled flooring, as opposed to the road laid outside, the slightest of heels her shoes carried clicked rhythmically with each and every step.
Oddly thickening the silence further.
Once the path was properly laid before her, the sight of a road stretching for meters on end – Hikari couldn’t help the smallest of gasps from escaping her lips. Childish, perhaps, to marvel at something as simple as a city.
But to Hikari? To Hikari, it was anything but a boring old city.-
-It was somewhere entirely new.-
“How could it not be?” –Following the theme of her gasp, upon childish impulse of which she would come to regret, the young girl let go of her aid to take her first proper steps into Goldenrod on her own. A skip following each roll of her feet, her skirt that sat caked in water heavy around her limbs and the borrowed coat certainly dwarfed her to the point of truly looking like that of a child wearing her father’s clothes.
--But she also smiled, even as raindrops fell onto her cheeks or clung to her stringy bangs; smiled as though she knew not to do anything else.-
-After a moment, however, the rain became too much. Cupping her arms above her eyes, then her head, Hikari quickly turned back towards Archer to seek the cover of his umbrella.-
“It’s- It’s really, really amazing.”-She expressed, seeking his gaze.- “… Have you really built up this place? Just like that?”
--------------------------------
executive-geneticist:
-There was an irritation that broiled in the pit of his stomach as he watched her withdraw, but it was-- for once-- not an irritation directed at someone else. His jaw tightened and he managed not to reach out and snatch her arm back in unrestrained frustration. Slipping further from his position as poised and perfectly in control would only worsen the situation at hand. He'd already performed the necessary ritual to cover his mistake slip up, now he needed only to wait for her to fall back under his spell. He wouldn't have to wait long; he was certain of it. He'd needed only a few minutes in her presence to know the type of person she would be.
-His gaze didn't leave her, intensely staring until she returned to his side. It wasn't perfect she needed correction but she was back beneath the umbrella again and that was the important thing. His distant, distracted nod in response to the last of her thoughts belied his own reluctance to linger on the subject. After all, the sooner they moved on, the better.
-He watched her face as he made his grand introduction, a grin tugging at one corner of his mouth at the not-so-hushed anticipation on her face. He had her rapt attention once more; much, much better.
-Her sudden departure came as a surprise, but he let her go and simply watched as she marveled at the city before them. He wasn't in a hurry to catch up to her dashing figure, but his long steps closed the distance while she scampered off. His arm was extended in hovering invitation so when she returned, as he knew she would it would be an easy one. He drank deeply of the awe and admiration on her face when she curled her little fingers around his arm, magnanimously forgiving the fact they were soaking his shirt. He made a sweeping gesture with his arm.-
You see? I wouldn't build your anticipation like this only to deliver something subpar. This city is my responsibility, after all. If it didn't meet my standards, I'd have brought you elsewhere. Shall I take your unabashed awe as a good sign?
-His tone was light now, all trace of the former irritation and frustration gone like a drop of water evaporating in the light of the midday sun. Here, with her undivided attention, stark wonder clear on her face, he thrived. This was the very epitome of Archer Apollo's element. Readjusting the umbrella, he leaned toward her and spoke in a low, tantalizing tenor.-
So, laundromat to dry off followed by dinner, Miss? Delightful company and all this excitement has certainly worked up my appetite.
