When Charlie had opened the hotel, she had hoped that maybe it would turn out that redemption was as simple as brewing the right potion that cleared away a Sinner's worst sins so they could be reevaluated and accepted by Heaven.

And then that maybe a potion to help them want to clean their slate would help (it also didn't work).

Redemption, as it turned out, was not as simple as brewing a potion or casting a spell. It took a lot of work and hard effort and a deep desire to change.

Which probably meant that trying to ask Vox of all souls to help was a bad idea, but she was desperate and was in the middle of a presentation involving crude doodles, finger puppets, and a little big of magic being used as sparklers for emphasis. "And that's why I think you could help!! With your resources, both Heaven and Hell would have to listen, right?"
