Little Thoughts Big Ideas: Author's Thoughts
Good Morning all! I know what you're thinking....where's our update? I truly want to be able to give you that update, yet I can't due to the freakin internet being down. Yes, it's been down since Monday and of course, someone can't be bothered to come out until Thursday. So, while I can only play my games, there's not much I can do. Weird part is, that while my internet is off, I can still be online on my phone through our old wifi. Way to go Fios! Today I get my real gaming computer! Those of you who don't really go to the sims forums or know me personally, I had a birthday on the 12th of this month (July) and this is what I'm getting. I am REALLY excited because it's a desktop. Meaning a real graphics card AND an ability to upgrade later if I choose. So while a laptop IS ideal cause I can be a traveling nomad with it, a desktop is much better and for once I'll have my graphics on high without fear of killing my machine and weighing it down. Recently I had talked to a friend of mine about tumblr. She had told me about someone not being very nice to her on here. She supposes that the statements made by her, which is unimportant now, probably didn't help. That I can understand and yet I'm perturbed. I've run into this kind of thing more times than I'd like to admit and it does wear on the nerves just as it had my friend the other day. I can't understand for the life of me why people have to fight each other tooth and nail over things that don't truly matter. You like what/who you like and that should be okay for those that are on the other side of that coin. Example: I like Sims 4 and someone might like Sims 1. They put forth the reason why and criticize me for my choice. Maybe possibly saying that it's boring, too cartoonish etc (and believe me I have heard it all). To the extent of making it seem like a put down.....why?! Why do that to others for liking something or someone different than your own choice?! Just so you can be right or feel like you are in the right?! Just stop for a moment and think things through....I implore you. On the which version is better in the sims argument.....along with the slew of comments that "if modders can do it so can the developers" and because of that they make the declaration that the developers......one fails to understand that no matter which version you like? You're still connected by one common denominator: you all like the sims no matter what. Same thing with Marvel!! I see a LOT of fighting among Marvel fans about which Avenger is better than the other. Or maybe not even that! Maybe which is better in the Avengers, the hero or the villain. And for some unknown reason, it seems to revolve around the same two people: Thor and Loki. Before I go any further with this let me just put this out there......I have no real favorite here. I like both equally. However, I know that there are those that are strongly pro-Loki and those others that are pro-Thor. Honestly though, lay down your swords on this. It's just like the which sims version is better......in the end, it's ALL MARVEL. That's your common denominator. Remember it and live in it. The world could be a better peaceful one really if people would back off of one another. It's fine to express opinions, you have every right. It's how you go about it that matters the most. Someone makes a bonehead statement (and not saying, right now, that I know of anyone who has.....I'm speaking in general), let it go. Take a deep breath, realize it's not the end of the world that someone out in the universe thinks something that is not true cause you know what? Only thing that does matter and should matter is what YOU think. And even if it's just not you they are saying it about but a group of people, again, it only matters what you all think about yourselves. You don't have anything to prove to the other side and vice versa. Again, the common denominator should be what unites people, not what breaks you both apart. Just keep in mind the common denominator. Think on that before making statements that you all might regret later or that may result in an internet fight cause it's so not worth anyone's time or energy to fight over things. Be respectful and kind to one another cause the world could use more of that, not less. One more helpful hint to displaying opinions: Think to yourself how you would feel upon receiving your words. How would it make you feel? Is it nice? Is it respectful? Or even, am I opening up a can of worms here? Also, and even more importantly still, am I making a comment about how this poster is as a person? If so, do I really know them or am I making an assumption? Cause honestly, in a group the age old excuse of "well, they're all alike" doesn't fly here. No two people are the same. So, if it's an assumption, then you all know what an assumption does.....it makes an "ass" out of "you" and "me". In the end, the arguments of which version is better, which character is better than the other, Marvel vs D.C. comics, etc really never made any sense to me at all. As long as the common denominator is there, it shouldn't matter at all. The only thing that should matter really is what you think about yourself. The disrespectfully rude people? Let karma do its job and walk away knowing that you have a power over them that they can't take away.
