Two books that I could rant about for hours: Mosquitoland (epitome of manic pixie dream girl trope) and Children of Blood and Bone (bad writing, bad world-building, and taking advantage of readers).
oooh???? i’ve read neither of these but i’ve heard that said about mosquitoland
i’m intrigued abt your opinion of blood & bone since all i hear about it are praises apart from the occasional side comment that it was a little long. i think you’re the first who’s not a fan! (i have it and will read it at some point *hopefully*)
i don’t know if i agree with your point that it’s “taking advantage of readers” simply because i’ve seen lots of people say they’re glad to see a book in which not only are they represented but also that it is getting attention like other fantasy books out there. and if people want that, supporting the book is their choice.
