Harriet & Mary
I wanted to draw something fun, so here we are!
Harriet is Mary's aunt (or rather a distant relative of her dad) and mentor. She's an infantry captain. Harriet is a maverick who loves military life and will only live as she pleases. She taught Mary all of her disguise tricks. Harriet is very proud of Mary and offered her a place by her side in the army. But Mary refused for nothing could replace the sea.
Harriet collects memoirs written by women who lived similar lives (which is another opportunity for me to reference historical women). She will appear physically during the second part of the story, when Mary is back on dry land. Being an important influence on Mary, Harriet is nonetheless present since the beginning in her internal monologue.
Their motto is to enjoy things while they last...and cause as much chaos as possible.
