Weekend Guide (30 Jan - 1 Feb)
Weekend is coming regardless where you live on the blue marble. While both of us live in different sides of the world, both of us live in vibrant cities. Tons of things to do and places to go to. The weekend guide is our recommendations for the upcoming weekend.
Starting off already on Thursday: Tycho is playing at O-East in Shibuya. Should be quite interesting to hear how their latest album Awake translates to a live venue. My personal guess is that it should be quite awesome indeed with plenty of nice grooves.
Tickets: 6000 Yen (In advance) and most likely a drink ticket. Expect to pay a bit more at the door.
Toddle and others at Bushbash. Toddle is in my mind one of the most interesting Japanese indie acts still touring. Seen Toddle play a couple of times and have loved them. Highly recommended for indie fans.
Tickets: 2000 Yen and a drink ticket.
DFA night at the Sound Museum Vision in Shibuya. DFA records showcase with the label head James Murphy. No need to say more.
Carlsberg, Danish brewing company has sponsored a project called The Green Door project. The premier is happening this weekend. You will have a taste of contemporary art and some dance music sounds.
Paddington DC, ambient electronic/pop band is going to play live there. Their album Hoppfull musik för hopplösa människor is full of dark, strong, ambient and reverb electronic sounds. Don't miss them out.
Farväl till ungdomen, Stockholm-based rock band is also going to play live. I like their Industrial Skyline album a lot, listen to free on Soundcloud.

Debaser also has hosting a live venue event from 19:00 to 03:00. Les Big Byrd, Swedish psycho progressive rock band is playing live there. Their unique sound usually includes echo-ish riffs and minimalistic chords. The group members are ex-sound engineers and that has made them strong in finding their own electronic sound and corresponding soundeffects. Their album, They worshipped Cats received some good reviews and the band seems to be on their way for good.
If you are not into Rock and prefer urban hip hop, there is something for you too. DayDay, the Malmö indie Hip Hop artist is playing live in Debaser, too. Some of her work are promising in my opinion.
If you are a guy/gal with simple taste and you like mainstream pop, Feliciana, the Dutch artist has come to perform live there, too. I think she has found her voice better in her single Forever. In her previous work though, her style is more confusing, jumping from mainstream hip hop to pop. I think Forever single by far the most compelling work she has performed.

So I am going to assume you partied hard on Friday night and you wanna take it a bit slower for Saturday. How about it? Stockholm's Glen Miller Cafe is always a nice place to hangout. This Saturday, Jimmy Halperin, The new york based saxophonist is performing on a collaborative set with Pål Nyberg, Swedish jazz guitarist. While Halpering's fast improvision feels like a Bruberk Sax, Nybergs' guitar sound feels like a cocktail of Django Reinhardt and Jimmy Bruno. Don't miss it out.
Tickets: Hip style round tips. Usually people pay 3 sets of 20SEK onto a basket that get round.
