Day: 852 Shirt: Descendents - FinALL Tour Summer '87 (the Liveage tour) (reproduction) Color: White Brand: Fruit Of The Loom Best Source: This shirt has serious meaning to me. well not this one exactly but this design. where do i start. i sued to own this shirt. i wore it all the time but much like any white shirt any skateboarder owned its days were numbered. i don't know how, or when it happened but at some point it died. I'm guessing full of rips, pavement and blood stains and if i know 18 yo Isac a few ketchup stains from hotdogs or something of that nature.
Secondly this is it. this was to be the last Descendents shirt ever made. the band was breaking up, going on tour and that was going to be that. the tour eded up boing the Liveage! album. easily one of my fav live albums of all time. and to think this was the shirt that you would have bought at the show as you heard this show live is just mind melting to me. i kinda get teary eyed thinking of it.
This shirt is on eBay once in a blue moon but never in a size that might fit me (XL, cause I'm a large but the 80's thought differently about what Large was) and i have never gotten my hands on it. i feel like th sonly way i will ever see it again is if someone says oh yeah i have that in my closet i never wear, its yours man.
Yeah dream on....so recently a friend bought one and sent me a picture so i made my own. i tried to replicate it best i can. it was important to me that some of the new Descendents fans out there get a chance to see this shirt again in all its glory. the 80's neon colors, the weird fonts, the of set curvature of the back dates that was clearly made pre- computer.. i dunno to me it really is a holy grail. i should shut my mouth at this point cause if any one did have it they are getting all sentimental about it now too and will never give it up now. oh well.
i also found this ad today in an old flip side i was flipping through, the ad for the tour that this shirt is from...
and Today they ar employing at Fun Fun Fun Fest 8 and i am not there...
YEs i did make a few extra, yes they are in the stores for as long as they last and that will be it. so snatch them up, and give them as gifts for xmas and make someone as happy as i am just looking at this post.
