okay countdown final thoughts!
overall not bad. it might not be a good story, but it's fun enough, and the art was pretty decent (very comic style, with all the pitfalls that entails, but like... at least they were high quality pitfalls amirite?). it introduced me to some new and interesting characters that i might pursue outside of this mess. my biggest complaint is that they could have cut down the monitor bickering by at least 70% and STILL had a cohesive story, so rip that. but it tells you something when my biggest complaint about a story that includes jason todd is NOT the jason todd writing, so there's that!
for jason todd........ it's not my favorite of his stories, but it's not my least favorite, either. he's pretty fucking flat in this thing, but i think it was interesting, at least, to get that glimpse into the alternate universe with the gun bruce and how jason reacted to it. i'm gonna have to reread that part and figure out what i think of it. still VERY interested to hear what tim's excuse is for using red robin, but that's an investigation for another time.
one thing countdown did pretty well was weave all the moving parts/people/teams together. everyone had their part to play, and i even really enjoyed some of the transitions and plot progressions! also HELL to the YES for donna's sparkly costume. easily my favorite costume design in the whole thing. like seriously, look at this panel with her sparkly hair:
who doesn't want a sparkly donna????
