Pike carrying Scanlan is exactly as things should be, I love this so much

Me, each morning, staring through the window of my office at the mound, slightly taller each day, surrounded by four bone-white puddles, slightly wider each day, with the whole construction located in the middle of the company's lawn:

Spoken, respectively, as a man who:

hates his father's guts and reveres his mother's memory

lost his entire family in one fell swoop, misses them brutally, but hasn't let himself feel the full scope of his grief yet

hasn't had family in decades, long enough to trick himself into believing he's better off without one

I know about a year later when asked about Scanlan's preferences Sam replied "I don't know what you call it. But whatever he is, it's not 100% heterosexual", but honestly? Between this and the flirting with Captain Damon in earlier episodes, this is all the Panlan confirmation people should have needed back in the day (the summer of 2015!).

Inquiring minds want to know, I timed it at an impressive 1:34! Over a minute and a half!!

the ceremony: *plays the original French version of "Do You Hear the People Sing" followed by Gojira shredding in front of the Conciergerie building with a chorus of [people dressed up as] decapitated aristocrats in red in the windows, holding their own head as they sing*
