@peraltastacy has been posting deep inspiring thoughts so I thought I’d follow suit with a digital “So Anyway” When my daughter Caprii was five she drew a heart In pencil on the cuff of my brand new @Burton #AK jacket. It pissed me off when she did it, but the first time I went riding in my new jacket, it made me really happy as it reminded me what was the most important thing in the world at the most important moment in time. That moment when you’re looking at a possible sketchy line and thinking to yourself. “Hmmm I wonder if it’ll slide” or “What are the consequences of missing that little landing pad if that branch I’m counting on to break doesn’t.” “Hmmmmmm deep thoughts” Then I’ll adjust my cuffs and it’ll snap me back to normal people thoughts. I think about how much I love my kids and my life as I adjust my cuffs and gloves before I drop in. The cuff saved me from a couple dodgy tree lines to cliff or the other way around to maybe not the best landing. Also saved from this little rock slot that would have ended bad if there were any hidden rocks or snow snakes. Or maybe they didn’t save me from myself. I’m just glad they make me think. Which, you’ll know, if you’ve ever ridden with me, thinking isn’t something I do very often when I ride as I like “the turn your brain off” and the “live in the moment” aspect of snowboarding, especially in trees and pow. Here we are six years later and now it’s a tradition. Each of my girls gets a cuff. Thanks for the new #burtonak gear @burtonsnowboards . Thanks for the life lesson Caprii and Kaia. #family #liveddoingwhatiloved #snowboarding #soanyway #girls (at Whistler, Canada) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt9Jy3OHY-P/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=196p39lbweu4z
