Just because a container is in a running state, does not mean that the process running within that container is functional. We can use Kubernetes Readiness and Liveness probes to determine whether an application is ready to receive traffic or not.

What do we understand by liveness?
On Tuesday 26th February we discussed the topic of “Liveness”. From the presentation that we listened to, I understood that “Liveness” is the effect of mediatization – not the other way around. Auslander, states in his book that recording technologies is what enables liveness today as there was no such thing as a live performance before. We’ve looked today at the image of the ancient Greek theater as an example of liveness and we came up to the conclusion that it wasn't live as there was no possibility of recording it. Auslander, p. 56. As a good example of liveness we also mentioned live broadcasts.
Honestly, out of all the slides that we have seen today, I was more into the topic about live connections and interactions with non-human agents (bots). People chat online daily with customer service and believe that this is live, even though there is a good chance that the recipient is not a human. It’s showing how much humanity has advanced in terms of technologies. At the same time, people can experience everything live, even if they are not alive, as long as they believe that bots are interacting with them in real time.
My own impression of this topic was more educational as well as it was highly informative and interesting in terms of self-development.
For it is nothing less than the perception of one’s own vitality, one’s sense of aliveness, of changeability (often signified as “freedom”). One’s “sense of aliveness” is a continuous, nonconscious self-perception (unconscious self-reflection or lived self-referentiality).
