I’m finally back which means I can tell you all about the month I spent in the beautiful town of Livigno for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games !!
First of all, the venue I worked at was Livigno Aerials & Moguls which hosted the well aforementioned events. Some pics below:
I had a BLAST. It was the BEST working experience I’ve ever had so far.
My position there was as Event Supervisor, which meant I coordinated a number of volunteers by telling them about their daily tasks and helping them with any issue that could have occurred. It also meant dealing with all the spectators that entered the venue, chatting with people from all over the world and having so much fun. Sometimes it also meant being able to watch a bunch of minutes of a competition that was taking place right before my eyes. It wasn’t always easy, though. Sometimes the heavy snow or cold would make things harder, and on busy days it was normal to deal with difficult or annoyed spectators. Those were rare occasions, but they still occurred like in any other job.
(more pics below of me on the workplace)
When I think about it it does all really feel surreal. I met several athletes and their families without being aware of it and I was actively part of the Opening Ceremony in Livigno by taking care of the Athletes part with my team (me specifically dealing with the Austrian and Australian Olympic teams). If you told 10 year old me I’d be working for the Winter Olympics one day I would have never believed it.
The pin-mania didn’t escape me, although I met others who were far more obsessed than me. Still, at the end of the Games I managed to get a few that I can say are quite nice:
Olympics aside I spent a great month in Livigno. It has great food, gorgeous landscapes and for being a relatively small town in the mountains it has a good amount of services and shops. Its centre is super pretty and I took several walks there during my time off. Some more pics to promote the town:
Last but not least, the social aspect of it all. I shared my apartment with three girls and I worked with one of them. My team was small but the other team (the one including the supervisors from the other venue) was quite big and we would often meet either to work together or simply hang out. I attended a few parties and had great fun and went to eat out for lunch or dinner in some of the greatest places I’ve ever been to. I am someone whose social life is almost equal to none so spending a month like that truly was regenerating.
If you are still here thank you for reading about this little experience of mine. Working for the Games almost felt like a vacation and it is something I would recommend to everyone who can, at least once in their lifetime.
