Heavy bags full of candy and the laughter of children could be heard bouncing around outside the apartment. It was dark, the moonlight shining through the curtains in the living room. All the lights were turned out because, for SOME REASON, you insisted on watching scary movies all night. You had never been a big fan - scary just wasn’t your thing - but on Halloween night you decide to be brave. Maybe having Kurama there next to you helped, just a little.

A jump scare in the movie, coupled with a tree branch scraping across the window outside, made you jump and spill popcorn all over you both.

“You’re the one who insisted on this scary movie night,” Kurama said, picking popcorn out of his crimson hair. His sideways glance coupled with that knowing grin made you sink down into the couch cushions, hiding behind the giant bowl of popcorn in your lap.

“I know I know, I thought I could be braver with you here…” Kurama wrapped an arm around your waist, pulling you in closer, stay pieces of popcorn still falling to the floor. At this point you had no idea what was happening on the TV screen.

“I know you’re brave in any other situation. These types of movies often show circumstances that don’t actually happen, so there’s no worry.” He slyly looped his finger through the beltloop of your jeans, as if securing you to him.

“I knew I invited you over for a good reason…” You cuddled up against his shoulders under the warm blanket, the movie now in the back of your mind. This was way better than trick - or -treating.
