Infernal Dukes: Jalie Square Foot The Liche Fiend

Another uniquely Green Ronin Product in part of my constant project to rewrite D&D 

Jalie Squarefoot The Liche Fiend

Patron: Lixer

Jalie Squarefoot was once an ambitious noble in the court of Mephistopheles, a gifted manipulator who at one point actually exceeded Mephistopheles own soul count.  Mephistopheles, realizing that his newly rising Duke was a threat to him, tried to focus his energy upon destroying the Slug Lord.  To his shock, Jalie was able to purge his court of almost every member loyal to Baalzebul., and was close to uncovering the identity of their leader.  To top this, he purged his court of every member of the Order of the Fly. While he wanted his information, he realized that his new favorite was to dangerous, and arranged for another powerful Pit Fiend named Belphagon to overthrow Jalie with the Lord of Hellfire's backing.  Jalie found his entire court slaughter and he himself almost dead, when desperate he revealed his greatest trick.  He had somehow learned how to revert himself back to the mortal shell that he once possessed, just long enough to become a Lich, a ritual he had prepared in case of assassination by the Hidden Lord.  Thus Jalie was simultaneously both an undead Mortal, and a living Pit Fiend...which doesn't make sense.  the transformation wasn't entirely perfectly, as his right foot shriveled into a club-like hoof, hence the name Squarefoot.  Combing back from the dead, he took Belphagon completely by surprise, killing him and all of his followers and returned to his master's good graces.  The Lord of Hellfire was impressed by his brilliant underlying, but again, feared being replaced, after all that was the point of the scheme. He turned his new underlying at destroying Asmodeus.  The Lord of Hellfire didn't want him to succeed, he wanted him to provoke Asmodeus enough to have him get ride this nuisance personally.  To his shock, Jalie managed to purge his court of almost every member of the Order of the Lie (as well as his personal enemies) and was well on his way to discovering the identity of the Hidden Lord when he was again betrayed, Asmodeus and Mephistopheles drove him out of hell, banishing him as no longer truly a devil and slew all of his followers.  The Infernal Progeny took up residence with Lixer, who was curious about his undead powers, and wants to use him to destroy his father.  He turned Jalie against Eblis, hoping to find a way to control Heaven's Bane, only for the great Archangel to turn on him and almost destroy him.  To get him out of Acheron to a safe location, Lixer sponsered him to be an Infernal Duke, a role he has thrived in every since.

Secret: Jalie was actually perfectly loyal to Mephistopheles, for he has bigger plans. He doesn't want to rule the 9 Hells, he wants to replace the Overlord himself, and for that he needs somebody as ambition as himself.  Thus his plan was to make Mephistopheles regent of hell, for he could count on him to help him fight the Overlord once he became aware of its existence.  The Lord of Hellfire actaully threw away his greatest chance at emerging victorious.
