ideally, they should do 4 comic series when all their origins comics end: (1) beau and yasha's domestic life plus some investigation, maybe beau getting justice about trent, (2) fjord and jester's pirate life, finding sabien and fixing the orphanage, plus kingsley being around and learning stuff, (3) caleb and essek's aeor investigations, plus maybe verin, (4) veth's school for rogue kids, with yeza helping out and luc learning how to fight. caduceus showing up in all the comics in, like, messages he sends or something. then either a uk'otoa oneshot or the mighty nein faking the gentleman's death so he can go stay with marion oneshot, except their plan gets crashed by isharnai. that way they avoid another wedding oneshot.
Yes anon you are so right. I agree with all of this except that I really do want an Aeor Adventure novel because I think Caleb deserves to be the subject of a book and also I think there's just. so many Aeor mysteries I don't know if a comic would be long enough.

This question took me by surprise because (a) I haven't gotten an ask in, like, months if not years. So, uh, hello! and (b) for some reason I never actually post about Order of the Stick, even though I love it and have been reading it for over fifteen years now.
Also, I generally only check in on it about once every month or so; when I read this I went, "wait is OOTS about to finish?" and then rushed to catch up. So thanks for the reminder there to go read it.
Anyways, the question. HMM. Well, Elan and Haley are my faves so gut instinct is theirs I suppose. I wonder how Elan's hypothetical kid would react to being a protagonist considering his father's insight into stories? Would they rebel against it? Would they embrace it? There's also potential for family drama considering Nale and Tarquin. Also I realized I have no memory about Haley's relatives but presumably there's stuff there, too.
That said, I also am dying to know more about V's family so I think reading about their kids would be interesting, too. And we've already gotten a lot of plot focused on Tarquin and Nale so it would probably be fresher to explore characters that have had less "screen" time.
Finally, for any of my followers unfamiliar, I do recommend checking out Order of the Stick. It's a DND webcomic that's been running for almost 20 years now (wow) so there's a ton of content. The story is really well written and hilarious.
Oh, also! (second ATLA ask, sorry) you should know there's whole comic books on finding Zuko's mother and what happens to Azula next. I can't really say whether I recommend them or not, having only read summaries myself but uhh… I tend to prefer the fanfiction ;)

I did hear about the comics about Zuko’s mother, I can’t remember if I knew that there’s also one about Azula. I definitely gotta see if I can find these and read them because those are two stories I VERY MUCH want to read! and hey if they turn out to be unsatisfying that IS what fic is for
speaking of which i would love it if you have any fic recs!! obvs i’ve been reading thru yours which are amazeballs. i’m mainly wanting canonical (well, to ATLA, not necessarily other media), post-war stories with kataang and maiko, and either suki/sokka or tokka, i’m ok with either. i’ve read a couple but they seem to be few and far between as far as i can tell.
Omgg!! I was so excited to read all your thoughts on A:TLA, especially on Maiko, which I love :D and also that ship wars are stupid, which they are! As for this sentiment– "There did seem to be moments where it seemed like Toph might actually harbor a crush on Sokka, but nothing came of it and she certainly didn’t say anything about it. That felt a little odd to me. Why hint at something but then make nothing of it?" this is something I ask myself every single day :P

at the moment Maiko is turning out to be my preferred ship to read, which is really surprising to me because I did NOT like her when we were first introduced to her! I think I knew she was going to end up with Zuko and I was like “She better do something PRETTY AMAZING for me to like this ship,” and girl did she deliver!!! Gosh I love that moment so much. Still not over it. She chose Zuko. Over Azula. Right in front of Azula. A z u l a. Who she knew was super dangerous and cruel and nuts. Mindblowing. Unsung hero of the war. I mean her betrayal started Azula’s decline that allowed them to defeat her. Could Zuko and Katara have taken her if Mai hadn’t betrayed her? Maybe, I guess. but she sure made it a lot easier for them. Anyways. am I repeating what i said in my original post? Probably but still.

Toph and Sokka is interesting to me. I keep thinking about Sokka accidentally finding out that Toph has a crush on him, and he’s just totally taken by surprise by it. Just has no idea how to process this information. Just standing their staring in utter shock. Meanwhile behind him Toph is chasing whatever idiot was responsible for spilling the beans. or SOMETHING. idk it’s sorta silly but my mind keeps going back to it. maybe it’s 10 years later and someone is like ‘oh ya toph had a crush on you during the war’ and he’s like ‘wut’ and suki knows (cuz seriously the first inklings of Toph’s crush were, at least as far as I recall, in the Serpentine Pass episode) so she’s just like “ummm yeah” and he’s like ‘u knew too?!’ and toph tries to deny that maybe when she was really young she had a harmless crush but she’s totally 100% over it but rly she’s not

Oh man, it’s been awhile since I’ve written any rebelcaptain, so I had to reread the last stories I worked on. Settled on a snippet from “YGM Draft1,” which is my yet-untitled, in-universe You’ve Got Mail AU. I actually got super excited rereading this story anyways. Man I really do want to get back to it... so many stories to write! So little time!
[This is in response to the WIP Title Game I did yesterday; anyone else reading this, please feel free to send an ask! I will actually answer in a timely manner this time...]
Jyn catches Bodhi staring at her kyber crystal just as she covers it with her scarf, concern plain on his face.
“She seems—fine,” he finishes, looking away when Jyn meets his eyes.
“I caught her humming, and she’s enthusiastic about haggling with Orus.”
“I wouldn’t say enthusiastic,” Jyn says, passing Bodhi to pick up her jacket off the back of her chair—at least something was where she expected it to be.
Bodhi quietly takes in the kitchen area, Maia’s confusion, the parts splayed out on the table, Essie’s chassis next to it, the panel open in the back, the datapad that Jyn hurriedly shoves into her bag.
“You know what it is,” Maia says, gasping.
“I wouldn’t say that,” he says, looking back at Jyn.
Rolling her eyes, Jyn counts out the credits she’ll need.
“Bodhi!”
He ignores Maia and nods towards Essie’s chassis. “You got a fix for Essie?”
“Yeah, he sent the schematics this morning.”
When Bodhi doesn’t respond, Jyn looks up to catch him sharing a look with Maia. “What?”
They both shift guiltily. “Nothing,” Bodhi mumbles. “I’ll come into town with you. I’ll check on the ‘hopper.”
“Great.” Jyn grabs a ration bar off the shelf and tosses it at Bodhi. “Let’s go.”
He’s less eager fifteen minutes later, when they climb out of the cave and Jyn reveals her transportation plans.
“We’re walking?” Bodhi blurts.
“It’s a beautiful day,” Jyn replies, gesturing to the rippling blue-green grass and the crisp blue sky.
“I mean—yeah, it’s—it’s always beautiful here, Jyn, if you hadn’t noticed. I mean, I’ve only been here…” He glances up at the sky as he calculates. “...six years less than you, but yes, yeah, I had noticed.”
She shrugs and bites into a meiloorun fruit. “It’s good to let the speeders charge.”
“Sure.”
“Something on your mind, Bode?”
He shakes his head. “No. Nope. What’s on your shopping list?”
She pulls out her data pad, shows him FS152’s pricing chart, with the parts she needs highlighted. “And the disabling bolt for the refinery droids.”
Bodhi skims over the pricing chart, his expression unusually blank. She waits for it, a continuation of Maia’s interrogation, but it never comes.
They walk a few tense minutes in silence for a bit, before Jyn finally takes the bait. “You two think I can’t be happy?”
“No, no, that’s not what we…” She raises her eyebrows. “Well, you know, I didn’t know you before…”
She knows what he means: before that night a year and a half ago, when an Imperial cargo pilot calling himself Bodhi Rook had showed up at the mouth of their cave, claiming that Mama had told him how to find them, claiming that their meeting on Rudrig had been ambushed, that he’d only just gotten away—
She closes her eyes and inhales. “Yes, Bodhi, I know what you mean.”
“Well, um, Idryssa just, she’s said… before… Ahh.” He shakes his head. “Nevermind.”
“It’s alright,” she says softly. “You can tell me.”
Bodhi looks out over the horizon. “How’s that penpal of yours?”
“Don’t change the subject.”
He looks back at her and meets her eyes. “I’m not.”
“I don’t see what he has to do with this conversation.”
“Okay.” Bodhi takes a deep breath. “Let me—let me paint a picture for you. You’re humming while you work. You lose track of things, drift off in your thoughts. You suddenly notice—I don’t know, how blue the sky is. There’s a word people have for that.”
Jyn glares at him, waiting for him to continue to explain this third train of thought, but he just holds out his hands for her to fill in the blanks. “You think I’m in love?”
“Well…”
“Not you, too,” she mutters. She shakes her head. “Hadder and I broke up months ago. I love him, sure, but not like that. Why is everyone—”
“I’m not talking about Hadder.”
No, she didn’t really think he had been. “You think I’m in love with FS152.”
“The evidence suggests…”
“‘Course I don’t love him,” she says, picking at the stem of her meiloorun fruit. “I don’t even know him. I don’t even know where he lives. He could be across the galaxy. What point is there in loving a person on the other side of the galaxy?”
“That’s very convincing.”
“Convincing,” Jyn says, tossing the word around in her head before tossing the meiloorun fruit core into the grass. “What’s convincing is that people don’t just fall in love with someone they met on an Anti-Imperial back channel, whom they’ve never met in person. I don’t even know his real name. How can you love a person you don’t even know?”
“Observe and report, right?” Bodhi says. “I’m just calling what I can see.”
“Then listen,” Jyn says, trying to keep her tone civil. She’s not mad, but Bodhi’s theory—it can’t be entertained. “FS152 is a useful contact who’s helped me plenty in the past, and is currently helping me repair Essie. And I’m excited to have Essie back.”
“Of course.”
Jyn sighs. She shouldn’t snap at Bodhi for caring. She’s grateful for him. She’s grateful for the intel he brought last year—not that she’s been able to do much about it, since then. That’s a dour thought for another day, one less bright as this one. She stows it away.
She’s grateful for his friendship, most of all.
And the stories he brought about Papa, although those, too, are too dark for today.
Today, she has a message in her inbox from FS152, a schematic to fix Essie, and a friend by her side.

I’ve gone back and forth of whether to watch LOK or not, so your commentary has been most enlightening. Do not like this idea at all.
I waffled too on whether I wanted to watch it for a few days after finishing A:TLA. But then I kept wishing there was more A:TLA to watch so I eventually caved. I just finished episode 5 of season 2. (Honestly what I think I really need to do is check out the comics...)
I’m enjoying it well enough, but I liked A:TLA more. And sometimes I have LOK on in the background while I’m doing other things, rather than giving it my full attention. On the one hand, I do sort of enjoy the parts with A:TLA characters or their children, but on the other hand sometimes it’s a little frustrating the stuff that they say happened with the Avater crew post-war.
My main issues re: the Gaang are:
(a) Aang died relatively young. This means that some of his friends are still around to train the next Avatar. I sort of wish they’d just let him live longer and let his children train Korra, I don’t think I needed to see the Avatar crew in this.
(b) the aforementioned “absent parenting” issue. Which might have been a little overexaggerating on my part, but basically in S2E3, Aang’s two older children (a nonbender and a waterbender) claim that he barely ever spent time with them because of his “Avatar duties” and that whenever he did have time, he spent it with his youngest son, the airbender.
(c) I have only come across this in fic, but I think we eventually find out something bad happened to Sokka? He hasn’t been around or even mentioned except in flashbacks... it’s worrying.
Speaking of flashbacks, there was an episode where Korra has flashbacks about a court trial and we get to see Aang, Sokka, and Toph. That’s towards the end of S1.
But generally the Gaang are not really the focus of the show, so you can usually get through an episode without any of this information being highly relevant. Aang’s youngest son Tenzin is training Korra in airbending so he’s the closest and most frequent connection we get to the Gaang. Oh, and one of Toph’s daughters is also pretty present. Zuko’s grandson comes in at the end of s1 but he’s more of a cameo and oh my god he sounds so much like Zuko. I seriously wonder if he’s voiced by the same person. I’m waiting to see if Korra visits Zuko.
Otherwise, the show is just a very different flavor from A:TLA. The characters are all older, for one thing. It also has more of like a 1920s/30s vibe -- there’s actual planes, radio is around, and silent films are starting to become a thing.
Oh, the antagonist sorta reminds me of Palpatine in that I feel like he’s way way OP and it was really frustrating to watch.
Anyways, I hope this was a helpful insight without being too spoilery.
All in all, I do find it interesting and I’ll keep watching, but so far I prefer A:TLA.
