thats the most prominent point I got from studying sellafield actually, that the locals are fine with the nuclear...

Yeah we really don't care, the stuff it's done for the area makes up for it, hell they gave like £300,000 to my school so we're all good, seriously though without Sellafield I don't want to think about what the area would be like, the average household income would be so much lower, especially in Seascale, we'd be screwed. it's funny actually, we were one of the few areas that never hated Thatcher because she didn't attempt to touch Sellafield, that shows how valued it was and still partly is. Plus it did loads for our public transport, the amount they give to help out the coastal trainline which most of us rely on. People complaining about Sellafield are always people who don't live within the immediate vicinity, most West Cumbrians have no problem with anything it does, want to build more waste storage go for it, it's always non-locals who kick up a fuss.  I will admit when the tide is out it's an insane way to walk, try walking out with a surfboard, I got halfway there and was on the edge of giving in but I pushed on for some of the worst waves ever.
