The first episode had been very surprisingly popular to the extent of even getting their names into a netizen post. While this wasn’t the ideal opportunity that he’s always wanted (a chance to show off those singing chops), this was a given opportunity for him to show off his charisma and variety skills, which was still pretty great.
He had been very excited for the second episode and when he,d heard who their guests would be, he was even more excited since he knew some of them from the time on mnet global auditions season 3 and while he hadn’t been the winner it would fun to catch up with the girls he used to know.
As was typical for recording days, he sat before the mirror adjusting his hair and touching up his makeup since he was pretty good at it and the stylist noonas had accepted that he knew best for himself. He was handed the script and he excitedly looked over before finding his cohost and wish her luck as well. It was together that they succeeded on the first episode. It would be together that they would succeed on all the following episodes
besides, they played off each other well. The fun and charismatic one was jongsuk and the cool and collected one was Eunji. They worked well together and that was all that they could do at the time.
Seeing the girls that he used to be on the mgas with was quite exciting. But today wasn’t about that. They were here as and*roma and that’s how jongsuk was going to treat them. After all, Luxe hadn’t gotten special treatment just because he knew Ella from the mgas. He would be professional and thank the gods every day for the opportunity that he was given to bond with idol groups and become closer to them on their own level despite being a lowly trainee.
Jongsuk had a lot of confidence in haruto’s skills. Untapped potential and jongsuk legitimately had so much faith in him. Even if he had said that he was going to be bad and terrible, jongsuk was sure that haruto would be great and even better, he was a triple threat. he almost felt threatened but he was happy that he was working with haruto and the whole month of preparations, he had spent it encouraging haruto and hyping him up because he knew that the other was good. he was after all taken in by katie lee of kt and jongsuk knew that the woman held high standards.
they spent their practice days, dancing and singing and jongsuk was glad to give haruto some tips that he had picked up while training in trc for a really long time, but overall, jongsuk was just happy to perform with a friend, a fun mashup and a fun song.
On the day of their performance, jongsuk grinned at haruto when the other had apologized many times again if he screws up. he just shook his hand and winked at his friend. “don’t worry about it. have fun and do what you do in practice, you’ll be great!” he exclaimed, with a wide grin. jongsuk was absolutely sure that his friend would do great. when they started, jongsuk knew exactly that his gamble had paid off.
Haruto was great tackling the rap parts and the vocals and everything and jongsuk had to applaud the boy for pulling through. It was great to see all that hard work of the month come to fruition. jongsuk then toook on his parts of the vocals and hit the high notes quite well in back and back again. those high notes were well worth the months of work he had put into them.
overall, he thought they had done pretty well by the end of it and he grinned at haruto. “should we go get lunch after all this?” he asked, laughing a bit.
February was the month of love and ballads and as such, Jongsuk was incredibly excited to do the february evaluation. Being a ballad king, Jongsuk knew exactly the song that he was going to do. He had been wanting to do a sad love song for the longest time, but since he’s always more poppy, he never really had a chance. Please Don’t was a song that he absolutely fell in love with and while, dance choreography wasn’t his strongest point, he supposed that he could do something like a solo waltz, essentially all the steps of a traditional waltz but by himself. It would be something unique and exciting. He’d had another idea but it was more poppy and he wanted to stick to a ballad.
Please Don’t would be a semi easy song to do, since he had almost mastered live singing and he had taken on ballad singing earlier the previous year, so his voice was fairly ready to take on the song. He spent days before the evaluation itself in the practice rooms, working out his choreography. He’d never done own choreography, but he could try. He moved with a slight grace, watching his lines and his steps carefully in the mirror.
He set up a camera to record his second day practice so that he could watch it back and make adjustments where he needed. That same recorded practice, he went for the vocals as well, having the backing track going while he sang. When he was watching it back, Jongsuk noticed that on the chorus he had his back to the where the trainers were supposed to be for the eval, and he made a note to adjust that turn into a 3/4 turn from a half turn. He kept watching it back and noticed that his arms were doing that flopping thing when his feet moved fast, in a 4 count step that would be done typically in hold when in a couple. This was good. This could be adjusted as need be.
He managed to self-choreograph a decent routine for his song. It was a simple waltz, with two turns and couple of traditional waltz steps, but it wasn’t anything too hard. He felt like it was going to be okay.
On the day of the eval at the end of the month, Jongsuk arrived at the Seocho training facility in a white sports jacket and khaki pants rolled up to the ankle with no socks and black shoes. He was eager to get this show on the road, rock it and go for it. In the afternoon, he was told which practice room to go to and he had his backing track on a disk and he was ready. He knew the song off by heart so even if came to it that he would have go without his backing track, he could. Jongsuk knew his cues and his notes well. He’d spent the better part of the month working on his vocals. the coach in the room told him that he was expected to execute the song in any circumstance and jongsuk nodded.
he was ready. he had spent weeks practicing and making sure that his slight waltz came out nicely and that his voice was strong enough to handle the ballad. He was totally ready for anything to come his way. He set up his backing track and took his spot, happily smiled a bit. As the music began, he took a sweeping step to the left and back, a la waltz in hold. He was counting in his head.
His voice didn’t falter as he sang. He’d been practicing on his own for the technicality to control his breathing. He’d spent hours watching vocal coaches on youtube, learning the techniques to reach the higher octaves. Please Don’t didn’t have the high octaves, but it was still a ballad and he wanted to show his best.

He then hit the second verse, as he spun in the dance. it was somewhat hard, but he kept at it. as he sang the last line of his second verse, he heard a click. His backing track was off, but luckily, Jongsuk knew his song and he just didn’t falter.

He added a bit of jazz steps, as he made a bit of skip as he sang. He played with his audience and made the song a bit more stacatto, hitting each line with a slight rap aspect to it. he was acapella, but he was going all the way.
There were some slight high notes in the chorus, and while he wasn’t versed in high notes, he tried to ht them, as he danced in a sweeping motion, mimicking a waltz. He cracked a bit on the second don’t know why but he didn’t show that he faltered.

He hit the third official verse with ease, going back to that monotone, low voice from the chest, allowing himself to conserve breath and keep his vocal chords tight for the impending high notes that would no doubt crack his voice even more. He had the melody going in his head, as he sang and danced, stepping carefully, making sure that his arms didn’t flop around. He’s watched enough of dancing with the stars to know that arms flopping is bad.
Jongsuk hit that anheungeol high note with ease and despite being on acapella, kept it on count. if someone would have turned on the music at this point, he would have been right in time if not a second behind. his dance moves were nice and easy and simple, but looked well practiced. he knew where his weaknesses were and made sure that his weaknesses were hidden.

He was almost out of air and he slowed down a bit, but still tried to keep on the music in his head. Jongsuk had to finish the song. He hit the notes with some difficulty but he powered through.

He finished the song off and licked his lips and took a bow. He needed a lot of water, but he knew that he had pulled off a great job and a great showing. thankfully, this eval only needed one performance so jongsuk pulled the white sport jacket off and left the room in search for water.
april 2020 eval
dancing; the chaser - infinite myname
playing instead: aoa luxe- feeling
the month had been good to him, despite losing his roommate at the beginning of the month. the evaluation was one of the best things he got. the expectations of the chaser was great and the choreography was nothing to scoff at. jongsuk is one of those who loves the song. so the last day evaluation was pretty exciting.
he joined his group in the auditorium with a wide grin. he was eager to show off their dance skills that they had and this was going to be quite fun. the chaser was a fun song and they had practiced the dance enough to do it in their sleep. so, jongsuk had no actual hesitation in what was going to happen and how they could take this performance to the next level and be the very best.
however he wasn't expecting what had happened.
he wasn't expecting the music to be different. he was pretty sure that it was luxe's feeling and while the song had a similar tempo as the chaser, it was a beat behind, so he was thrown for a few moments while he tried to gain his footing again.
however, he knew his skills and knew that he wasn't about to sit back and let his group down in this eval, so after a few moments of fumbling with his feet and trying to figure out his rhythm, he managed to follow himself quite well while watching taeyang.
following a fellow dancer proved to be exactly what he needed and he got himself back on beat and by the middle of the song (up to the first chorus), he was doing pretty okay with the choreography.
of course, in his subconscious, he wanted to dance the girl group song, so it took almost all of his mental power to hold himself back from that.
so he was pretty good at that going on for that. Of course, myname songs were second nature to him, but the inner girl group stan was just rearing to come out.
jongsuk loved fashion. he lived fashion and delighted in glamorous outfits. that was his whole desire for in life. the beautiful fashions and accessories on display for purchase at seoul's fashion week are almost too much for jongsuk. he had never gone to fashion week before since he was always busy but his sister would go to the one in new york and she would often come back with stories of beautiful costumes, glittering accessories and seeing it in seoul now, when he could afford all the fashions made the long wait worth it.
the sparkle of the jewelry was enough to make him smile widely and even the very pretty outfits were grand. he was so very pleased with all the various accessories, even finding it in himself to splurge on a new scarf. a silk scarf with designs of flowers on it. very much in tune with jongsuk's own colorful wardrobe that he wore day to day at trc.
he walked around two of the days, taking in the sights of the designer goods and even deciding to buy more. another scarf in a tie-dye blue ombre and a black jacket with studs all over. he supposed that both purchases would be good additions to his collection of clothes and a good match to his own wardrobe.
the plan was to find more cute things but he didn't and there was much disappointment but he did his best to abate that. he recorded many vlogs from the two days and even did a live periscope stream letting his viewers into the world of the trainee of fashion. he had answered questions and even asked advice for fashions, to be met with grand delight and always yeses.
ep 4 recording with Unit Black’s Inho, Doha, Jinseok and Sunghyun
If Jongsuk has to be excited for any single episode (aside from a MYNAME episode), it would be the one upcoming. Unit Black, in Jongsuks humble opinion, has some of the best singers. KT has trained those boys so damn well. While jongsuk admires yoo jiahn a bit more, Doha has that amazing vocal control that jongsuk could only pine to have. Jiahn , Doha and Hyunwook have a level of singing that jongsuk can only aspire to have.
So yeah, it’s a safe understatement that jongsuk may or may not be fanboying a bit. While they’re getting their hair and makeup done (jongsuk once again doing his own touch ups because the noonas trusted him completely at this point and he still served looks on camera), he requests that Eunji pinches him , ‘so that I may know it’s not a dream.’ Of course this is not as bad as it could be were it his ultimate bias group, but this is fine. It’s almost like a sneak peak of the potential reaction towards any group that he actually follows.
Jongsuk gathers his emotions and tells himself to be calm and professional. “Please tell me if I start fanboying like a crazy person.” He said to Eunji. “Or you know, start asking weird questions that border on creepy,” he added. He took a deep breath because even seeing them getting mic-Ed up was enough to awaken the slight fanboy. “right. Calm and professional. Oh this is so exciting,” he mumbled. He gathered up all his mental strength to try and not fanboy at them. Thank god it was just Doha out of the trinity of beautiful vocals.
Before they even start recording, jongsuk has to say it. “I really admire your vocal talents, Doha sunbae. You’re totally cool.” He stated. Satisfied that he’s said it, jongsuk officially takes a deep breath and grins at Eunji. “Let’s do a good job once again today,” he stated with a wink.
Live singing and dancing at the same time? Well, this evaluation was Jongsuk’s to dominate. He loved dancing and singing and since he was a Myname fan, time to once again show his level of fanboy that he was.
Live singing and dancing at the same time? Well, this evaluation was Jongsuk’s to dominate. He loved dancing and singing and since he was a Myname fan, time to once again show his level of fanboy that he was. He loved loved dancing, since after all dancing and singing were the base of his youtube channel. it was what he had been for years. The day of evaluation performances came and jongsuk was pumped. he was so incredibly excited to go at one of his favorite songs from the nova boyband and when it was his turn, he pranced into the practice rooms and waved at all the trainers. his favorite vocal trainer gave him a playful wink befor he started off. he sat down on the floor and almost like it was a live performance on a music show, he began. his voice was strong and even singing live with just the instrumental in the background, it was evident that his voice was trained for professional singing. there was almost no breathiness and only on one of the parts in the beginning did his voice falter but it was a high note. he moved smoothly, switching from sitting to getting up to that breakdown where the movements switched from the smooth and slow to fast and hip hop. his weeks of practice paid off and he couldn’t help but smirk a bit as he hit the chorus of the song. he just couldn’t help it at all. he knew that he was doing great. he could probably pull this off as well as he had expected. this was great! he managed to get close to the end of the song and easily put down a great high note, steady but not too high showing the range of abilities. after he finished, he set the mic down and skipped off. that had been a great evaluation.
This was all his evaluation! Even though the first week training was hard and plus he had been helping with promotions that first week for the karma debut, jongsuk still managed to find the energy and time to make sure that he could knock this evaluation out of the park.
Being a huge MYNAME fan, jongsuk had decided to do one of their ballad esque songs with complex dance since he could absolutely pull off the routine.
So most of the time when he wasn't too busy he was practicing his dancing. He didn't really have to practice his vocals because he was prepared enough but he had to make sure that his dancing was perfect. of course it took a lot of energy out of him but he had energy to burn!
this was what he had been wanting for for ages. ever since he got signed three years ago. he's wanted to show off his vocal skills even more and while he knew that he wasn't the best dancer in the company, he wanted to show that he came pretty damn close.
jonsguk wanted validation so much on his talents. he didn't want to fade into the background ever so his aim every eval was to push himself more and more.
by the last week of may, before performances, jongsuk felt that he could do absolutely anything and that his intense preparations had meant everything. his love of myname would shine in all the spotlights.
