Posting about Martyn Lore cause I'm still thinking about it.
Like I feel like there's a fact about Martyn's lore that I haven't seen many point out.
And that fact is that;
Martyn Doesn't Know
As far as I'm aware
Martyn doesn't know, he doesn't understand .
He doesn't understand why they need to kill each other.
He doesn't understand there's a cycle.
He doesn't understand that the Watchers are involved.
Doesn't understand that the Watchers are referring to the fact that Grian is a Watcher, or referring to his relationship his Listeners. (*coughJimmycoughTellNobodycough*)
Cause why would he?
Why would any of this relate to Evo/The Watchers?
Why would the beings in his head that are putting his friends through this cruel game be the same ones as the beings that only talked via signs, that gave gifts and consequences to those who did and didn't do their will, those that, while were slightly chaotic, didn't actually get his friends to kill each other.
It wouldn't make sense.
Sure they are similar, the voices speak in rhymes, Grian being destructive, BigB and his cookies, Timmy's bad luck. But I personally wouldn't have connected those dots.
Going by irl time, it's been a couple years since Evo, as far Martyn knows, they escaped, or whatever.
The Watcher weren't there anymore.
Why would they be back?
The Listeners got them out of there, they're safe.
But the fact is, Martyn doesn't understand, he's clueless. He knows that something is going on, but doesn't know what. The Watchers never explained to him.
And it makes me worry for what happens next?
The next cycle. What does Martyn do?
Does he make a deal with them again? Maybe this time for knowledge?
Does he try to fight back against these voices in his head that manipulate the way he thinks and see, albeit slightly, but enough for concern.
Does he just do their bidding? Not worth fighting back if he doesn't know what he's fighting?
