Han Juwon seeing Lee Dongsik, a man he's assuming is guilty of serial murder until proven innocent, holding an umbrella for a lost, disabled young man in the rain:
I was wondering why my petunia pot was suddenly not doing so well until I discovered that there were four (4) baby bunnies in it! Mama must have hopped onto our deck and into the pot fhahshdjfkffk.
I love the parallels between Seong Gihun and Hwang Inho. Gihun joined the games to earn money for his ailing mother who needed surgery and to prove that he could provide a stable home for his daughter. Inho joined the games to earn money for his ailing wife who needed surgery and to save and provide for his unborn child. They both witnessed the horrors of capitalism, human cruelty, and the banality of evil during the games, only to lose their loved ones after winning, which rendered their respective traumas purposeless. Oh Ilnam psychologically tortured them in similar ways by giving them the option to betray and kill others in the game in order to win, or to accept death. The key difference is that Inho was willing to kill for his loved ones, whereas Gihun was willing to die for his loved ones.
In episode 5 of Beyond Evil, Lee Dongsik moaned like a slut when two of Lee Changjin's cronies slammed him into the patrol car, and that's when Han Juwon decided to get involved, of course.
And ANOTHER thing!
Lee Dongsik gains 20 pounds post-canon and can't even bring himself to joke about being hot anymore. That is, until Han Juwon fucks the confidence back into him.
Han Juwon likes to think he has a degradation kink, but Lee Dongsik knows that man has a praise kink.
I feel like in their beginning explorations of intimacy, Juwon would be so gentle with that old man. He'd be so scared of causing Dongsik any pain, physical or emotional. It would take so many "I'm not gonna break, Juwon-ah"s for him to finally let go. But when he does, Dongsik has to hold on for dear life because he knew Juwon was holding back but not by how much. 😳
