By the Goddess, humans are arrogant. Were she meant to be alive, her Lord would not have killed her. He gave her life when nothing had meaning, and so her life was his and his alone to take. And then she failed him -- losing twice, to that pathetic lot? Even now, her cheeks flush with shame at the thought.
So of course, when she sees that pathetic boy (how she loathes everything about him -- everything from his stupid smile to his ridiculous clothes to his foolish traitor of a father) she knows what she must do. He’s walking cheerfully along, bag of groceries balanced on his hip. He does not notice her presence, though of course someone so self-centered and prideful would be hard-pressed to venture far outside his own empty head.
