past and present

"Do you think certain colours are meant for certain people?” Yuna asked, stirring her coffee, letting it cool and mixing the sugar and milk she had just added. She tapped the spoon against her glass before setting it beside her cup and looked across the table at Minkyu, a slight tilt to her head as she waited for his answer. “I never thought about it, but I heard this couple talking about it and they were assigning colours to people around them and I thought it was odd. But I guess it could be interesting too,” she explained.
They were friends, but they hadn’t always been. Their first meeting had been awkward, to say the least but Yuna did what she could to push past it, leave it as something meaningless and not important and focusing on bigger and better things. When it seemed to work, Yuna was glad but what she didn’t expect was what happened next. It happened all at once, or at least, it felt that way to Yuna.
They dated for a bit, and all seemed fine but it eventually came to an end for them. Simply put, it didn’t work out. Why? Yuna tried not to dwell on it too much, especially since they had managed to still be friends, and that was the least she could ask for.
She enjoyed spending time with Minkyu, she thought they got along well enough, despite his awkwardness which, if she was being truthful, she found endearing. Perhaps not in the same way as before, but nonetheless, endearing.
“I think your colour would be green,” she said, pausing as she let this settle and took a sip from her coffee. “It can be a strong colour, but it’s usually associated with calmness, and I think that’s you a little bit.”
