Sergei’s head snapped up at the voice. He hadn’t even realized he’d been nodding off. He was hanging halfway off of a pool floatie. The stars were out and he remembered that he’d decided to soak up the moonlight and relax on a rare night off from brotherhood duties. His sudden jerk threw him off balance and he dunked his head quite ungracefully into the water. He came back up sputtering and dragged himself more securely onto the floatie.
“Thanks,” he grumbled. “but I don’t really need to worry about dying like that.”
