I finally finished the novel (thank god) and know feel I have the authority to actually yap about the Novel and Webcomic.
First of all! I liked both! Yes, the novel was better, (I liked the focus on the characters motivations, and how it took itself more seriously) but I still like the comic. This may be a side effect of me reading the comic first, but it has some strengths.
Personally I like how they deal with the Alicia/Lloyd Romance better, it's still not flawless, and could be more fleshed out, but Lloyd seems to at least care a bit more about her, leading up to the whole thing. I don't hav access to the final chapters of the webcomic, so I can't say with certainty, but I hope they deal with the whole marriage thing better.
I was honestly surprised the comic made so many changes, this is my first time reading a Novel and Webcomic together, and they really are different, especially during the second half of the story.
Overall, the Novel's focus on the characters, and how it showed people's motivations (especially Lloyd's I think the webcomic didn't want to take him too seriously, but the novel is fine with making him a little sad all the time) was better. I need not even say that I adore Javier and Lloyd's dynamic way better in the novel, they can banter way more in novel format.
The ending was.... Interesting but I could make a whole other post about that (and may)
