another lesser known les mis adaptation on YT is ”Sefiller” (1967) this one’s brave enough to ask what if there was no revolution? what if valjean didn’t even go to jail but was like falsely accused then escaped? what if instead of anything happening Marius fucking shoots Valjean because he blames him for his dad’s death and Javert has to run in to stop him and heroically save the day with facts and logic?
you can argue with the choices, but you can’t argue the results (whump scene where Javert tends to Valjean’s wound and lights him a cigarette)
