Hello wasn’t just hello anymore.
A kiss wasn’t just a kiss anymore.
A touch wasn’t just a touch anymore.
He wasn’t just some guy anymore.
Had it been a year since he last saw her? Eleven months? Nonetheless, it felt as if nothing had changed the moment he pressed his soft lips to hers. It was like those many months ago - Her cheeks were red, her palms were sweaty, and her heart was beating like a drum. All the while, she had this feeling in her stomach that she desperately wanted to go away. Even though it wasn’t a bad feeling, it was something she hadn’t felt in many, many years and that was a time she wanted to forget.
There was a part of her that kept reminding her to keep the past in the past, and another that kept saying “He’ll hurt you, stop it right now!” One voice was louder than the other, and she eventually gave in to her lust --- or rather, it wasn’t really lust considering the face she made when he felt her butt. Regardless, for once she actually listened to her heart.
But that’s the scary part. The young woman hadn’t followed her heart since she was eighteen. Since she was put in a holding cell for a crime she did not commit. Since she was betrayed and heartbroken because she put too much faith in a man who did not love her back. And she was gonna do it all again?
It was just the way he looked at her - like she was something worth while. The last person to look at her that way was her mother. He believed in her. He waited for her. And most important, he wanted her. She just wanted to do the same for him.
However, this means everything will change, and that was also horrifying. Hello wasn’t just hello anymore. A kiss wasn’t just a kiss anymore. A touch wasn’t just a touch anymore. He wasn’t just some guy anymore. He was someone important, someone she had to protect.
