Just watched Ted Nivison’s almost 2 hour video on Barbie for the fourth time and ohmygod is it still the same master piece I saw when I first watched it. There’s something so intriguing, and somewhat comedic, about watching Ted spiral to the conclusive theory that Barbie is a desensitised hive mind because he makes so much sense (spoilers to the video if you haven’t seen it already. Highly recommend).

Personally I stopped watching barbie after they started partnering with Netflix, something about the films just became somewhat lazy to me, BUT the potential of the concept of Barbie basically being a psychological horror behind the scenes sounds like so much fun. Can y’all imagine the monopoly that is Barbie actually being a line of clones training themselves for the end goal of ascension to godhood and any sort of threat to that is just immediately taken out. That’s some crazy stuff.

The potential guys, you have to believe me, it’s there. I swear I’m not crazy.

The idea I had was the exploration of Kelly’s (the retconned youngest Roberts sister) disappearance through her perspective; Kelly’s attempts to adhere to the criteria of proficiencies, Barbie/the hive mind’s slow realisation that she is not capable to accomplish what is expected, Kelly getting slimed out (rip). Words alone cannot express the type of tone I wish to convey but picture something that’s uncanny with a cult-like undertone to it and it’s all disguised under a big female-dominated family line. Your sister watches quietly as you continue fail and struggle with the things she, and every other sister, knows. Cold stares of thought as she weighs your incompetence. At the end of the day you are erased, completely replaced by a new identity that still shares the base of who you were. You are gone.

Just tell me that ain’t something. Again, mass potentially for a barbie horror here. Somebody get on that before I do ong.
