RIGHT, so before the age of smart phones and pirated movies or even electricity for that matter people actually left their homes for entertainment.
This director for one knows there is no down time when it is coming up to Fashion month; lack of sleep, planning, being glued onto a electronic device reading what’s happening in our little industry, hating life. But, if I could for that one moment just be taken out of this chaos that I call fashion hell I would.
Bless, creative off site shows that branch off from the festivals because without them I feel like I would be stuck in a mainstream spiral of “saw it already, insert reference from early 80-2000’s”. I have been so fortunate to be invited to attend a Couture show, which is completely being performed (drumroll please) by the Australian Ballet School.
YES. BALLET. Say it with me Ballet! A place where you can go and watch amazing fleets of athleticism and have a chance to wear your mother’s pearls and fancy get up for no reason.
To the many of the youngsters whom attend events in fancy clothes to be profiled by some misc. blogger, lets face it, there is a higher turnover of street style photography then China’s ability to copy high end fashion items and mass produce it at 10cents per item.
But the ballet, is a soothing welcoming, inspiring place where a busy mind like mine can relax and enjoy the great music and think about how every doughnut is not getting me any closer to being as fit as those ballet dancers.
Now lets look at the facts;
It costs 35.00 to support sexy young talented dancers
It starts at 7:30pm so it gives you time to get FABULOUS after work
Its in the CBD on Collins Street, Melbourne 3000
It’s on a Wednesday (12th March 2014). I dare you to tell me you had better plans.
So, you now know to stop buying mid week chocolate/ ice cream/ “low fat” pudding and go and support something worthwhile. $35.00 is the same as buying these wonderful dancers a cocktail from Lilly blacks. And this show is sure to be more successful and sell out faster then Lilly’s on a Friday night. See you all there Melbourne and I expect you all in your Sunday best.
