im gonna geek out for a second here: the entirety of unnus annus is making me so self aware. the whole concept of the channel is just so bittersweet to me, yet it's also a huge reminder of something we all don't want to admit. nothing lives forever. moments, people, etc. none of that lives forever.
the phrase momento mori is honestly one i like to remind myself of. it serves as reminder to leave each and every moment, every day, as if it could be your last. cliche, i understand. but it's a reality we all face. we might make choices that are considered our legacy, but we as people don't live forever. where we go, is entirely based on our own belief systems. in my beliefs, i hope to go heaven. i haven't seen my grandma in a very long time and i miss that crazy woman.
unnus annus in its entirety has shown me how to be more humble. it's also shown me not to take the little and big things for granted. moments will come to an end, but we must keep going, we learn to live without something, and we hold onto the memories
and i think that message is pretty neat

Listen, I'm blocking fanpol on sight now. If I see an opinion that goes "if anyone does x to [charname] I'm throwing hands" or any variation thereof, it's an insta block. I might even agree that x is shit, but the only correct response is to block and move on. We just lived through the drumpf years, we're in a pandemic, my uncle has covid, I'm tryna wfh while homeschooling a 10 yo and my cat has diarrhea. If I want to dissociate into fandom for 5 minutes, I don't want to see any drama that isn't 100% fictional in nature.
It annoys me so much when ppl mistag posts to get traffic or whatever the reasoning is. If I go in a character tag and I have to scroll through 7 pics of someone's random oc to get to content about the character I'm here for, I'm not going to rb your art, I'm going to block you.

My friend is taking down his blog, because of the fandom’s attitude toward to trans and homophobic hate and it makes me so sad. There’s nothing difficult about being respectful. Disrespect and hate and bigotry are not new or creative. It’s not unique or interesting, but for some reason ppl are dead set on protecting some imagined right to be offensive. I really don’t understand the compulsion to criticise ppl asking for simple decency versus people who seem to get off on being jerks, but okay.
Yes, none of you can be compelled to respect anyone who isn’t like you. No one can stop you from using homophobic and trans misogynistic and racist words. No one can stop you from fetishising gay guys, or stereotyping, or dehumanising trans ppl and poc.
But look at who America voted for. Fandom protection is a very recent phenomenon and it’s very fragile. I keep seeing ppl claiming that fandom bigotry doesn’t matter because it’s “just fandom” (fyi, hate is hate regardless of the setting) but if you think that there aren’t a whole bunch of right-wing fanatics foaming at the mouth to see fan communities, particularly gay ones, shut down you’d be wrong.
They did it before.
I don’t know what’s going to happen, but in the US and across the world, ppl like this have been given a platform that they haven’t had since World War II. And no, they do not care about you either. It won’t take much. One or two law suits, a couple of small “family friendly” amendments to copyright law, and suddenly your little smut fic violates about 10 different decency and IP laws.
No one can keep you from being homophobic and racist and generally despicable if that’s how you choose to conduct yourself, but there’s a very good chance that the same homophobic and racist attitude you’re so set on defending is going to be the end of fandom as we know it. You might think nothing of pushing minorities out of communities that should be representing them, but in the post-2016 world, there’s nothing that guarantees these communities will continue being there for you.
um, yes, if you support a racist homophobic rape apologist and you feel uncomfortable expressing that in civilized society for fear of being criticized, then no i really don’t feel sorry for you.
I wish ppl would stop defending their ships by encouraging hate for other ships. Plz don’t do that. Ship hate is ridiculous and the single most immature thing in the world. Other ppl’s interest in a fictional hookup (that isn’t even part of the canon) does not and cannot affect you in any way unless you actively allow it to. If you don’t like a ship, block it and move on with your life. If someone sends you hate for what you ship, block them and move on with your life. Don’t tell them to go hate on another ship instead.
