New York was a hell of a place to get lost in, but Elena hadn't exactly considered herself to be lost. She was on the hunt to find a job that would increase the amount of crumbled bills in her pocket - a search that hadn't exactly gone as planned. There was no one to blame but herself, of course, but she hardly had enough time to worry about something to blame. Spending six hours out and about in New York, well, that was certainly something else. Her mind had been completely consumed by the buildings, the little shops, the people, the cars. Everything was worth interest, and the only thing that had Elena finding her way back to her new home, is when she realized that it was dark.
Not only was it dark, but it was getting pretty late! Never one to worry, however, she quietly entered the Linden House, with one craving and one craving only. The winters in this area were pretty brutal, apparently, and Elena wanted coffee to help warm her up. Although at this hour, coffee didn't feel like the best idea - so hot chocolate it was! Heating up a little too much, Elena still grabbed a handful of marshmallows to throw into the steaming liquid before pouring it into a mug. Distracted in thoughts about nothing in particular, only the sound of approaching footsteps perked her ears up, and she turned to look at who it was. "Hey. Want some?" She asked immediately, gesturing over to another mug full of hot chocolate.
Robyn sat atop the washing machine in an effort to keep it from making too much noise. It was the loudest washing machine she'd ever heard in her life, but whenever they'd contacted the landlord about it, a repairman would show up and tell them that it wasn't broken, so it wouldn't be replaced. Robyn had given up trying to get it fixed. Instead, whenever she had to do a load of laundry, she just plopped herself on top of the machine with her ipod and a book and used herself to keep the machine from making too much racket. Especially when she had to do her laundry at night and she knew that the noise would disturb anyone trying to catch some sleep.
Putting her earbuds in, she sat atop the machine, legs swinging over the edge as the thing rattled beneath her. She held a book in her hands, head dipped so she could read through the pages the best she could, trying to keep it steady. She'd been mostly keeping to herself, but wondered what her new housemates were up to today. Whether or not they'd want to all go in on a pizza at some point to try and mix and mingle a little bit, or if people were already taking care of that without having to bond over dinner.
After arriving from the hospital at five in the morning, Sebastien hadn't been able to get a wink of sleep. Not even when he listened to classical music while reading one of his old med school books. Those had always managed to put him straight to sleep when he needed to study for a test the next day, but when he needed them, nothing. He tossed and turned in his bed, already missing the king-size bed he'd been sleeping in for the past three years. After finding no success in his room, he had decided to go down to the basement and watch television.
There, settled into the deep cushions of the couch, he'd watched a marathon of 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and heard how his neurons died one by one with each episode. After switching channels and finding the History channel, he paid attention to the first fifteen minutes of a documentary starring some nut case who'd been abducted by aliens. Yeah, right. That was like saying vampires existed or zombies would eventually take over the Earth. Sebastien was unconscious in minutes, his head dangling off the other side of the couch. Not the best place to sleep, but he was too exhausted to move from his place.
Robyn's in the kitchen, standing at the counter while she stirs at her oatmeal. She'd added some brown sugar, some almonds and some raisins and called it dinner. It had been a long day, a lot of new faces and everyone was just getting settled in. There still weren't many groceries in the fridge, but she'd put up a grocery list for the next time someone went grocery shopping. Maybe she'd pick up a bunch of food for the house, let people settle and give them some time to get the hang of the new house. If all else failed, she supposed they could all order a pizza? Or maybe she was getting ahead of herself. Maybe no one would even care that much about house unity.
Most of the time, Elena wondered just why in the world she had a phone. It was one of those little to-go phones she had picked up from a Target who knows how long ago, but really, how often did she use it? She'd probably used it to order pizza a few times, maybe once in a while there would be contact with a family member, but other than that it was completely useless. Maybe she only kept it to lose it, as that was the purpose is served currently - for her to find. She had only been in this house for a matter of hours, for heaven's sake! Okay, perhaps since last night when she got settled in.. but how could she have lost it within that time period? Elena hadn't even used it! Maybe it fell out of something while she was lugging backpacks up the stairs, and she just didn't hear it fall out.
So with messy hair and bare feet, she ran around the main floor of the house, a house that was gorgeous by the way, as she tried her best not to turn it upside down while she looked for the little thing. It wouldn't be that big of a deal if it was lost forever, but there was still a chance that it had found it's own little hiding spot in this huge place. Ducking down to her knees, Elena was almost flat onto the ground as she tried to spot a cell phone from underneath one of the couches.
