Pleating a skirt and making some new garb for the Lo-Tide run in a couple weeks. Gotta keep my Sister looking sharp!
Two years ago our Shire participated in the Lo-Tide Run. This is a charity 5k and 10k marathon held the Saturday closest to St. Patrick’s Day that raises money for families effected by cancer in our local community. It’s kind of a big deal around here - people dress up in green and other St. Patrick’s Day themed stuff to do it. A bunch of us dressed in armor and garb and walked the 5k and had a blast.
Last year, a couple of other groups asked to participate with us, and we were all really hopeful that it would happen. Unfortunately, it was cancelled due to looming stay at home orders for the state, and out of caution for those who would be participating.
This year, they have scheduled it again in hope that it will happen, this time with a virtual option. Meaning you walk/run it on your own time in your own place and log it as a participant without having to be at the event.
Seeing as the SCA has cancelled all in-person events until May, we cannot officially participate as a Shire. My Squire Nephew, who coordinated this for us the last two years, made sure that this was clear in our team name for this year. He is the best and I am looking forward to participating this year, one way or another.
Well. The charity marathon we were gonna walk in armor this weekend has been cancelled because of Covid19. Fingers crossed it will be rescheduled.
This also means that I now have WAY more time to finish my tunic. 😂
