Finally announcing our next game, Laments of a Valiant Rose.
This game is a sequel to Laments of a Platinum Rose, taking place directly after that game, so please play Platinum Rose before Valiant Rose.
Please enjoy my monthly devlog for May, 2026.
In Laments of a Valiant Rose, the player can see the world of Luminary, Nexus, through the eyes of Jane Perdita, who is now abdicated of her role as Queen.
In many ways, Valiant Rose is an evolution of Platinum Rose, especially in terms of presentation and gameplay elements. I feel like the things that made Platinum Rose distinct are much more distinct and realized here. This is a side effect of me improving and growing more confident as a programmer and developer, but also a product of the different story I'm telling. Although I consider this to be an evolution of those concepts, it would not be fitting to go back to Platinum Rose and change anything as what is there totally fits that story.
Jane is a wildly different protagonist than Lilith was, and so it is only fitting that she sees the world and interacts with it differently. Lilith was focused and narrow-minded. Jane is wide-eyed and curious. The world opens up before you.
Please wishlist our game on Steam. We plan to release a demo that will be about 1/4th of the game.
Thank you for reading, I am so excited to share more with you.
More information on our upcoming game, Laments of a Valiant Rose, including some screenshots. I'm hoping that by the time the next devblog is up, the demo will be available on Steam. The game will also likely come to itch.io but for the time being we are prioritizing Steam.
I am so excited to share "LoaVR" with you all. In many ways, we are taking the elements of Laments of a Platinum Rose and expanding them. But at the same time, the expansion is a natural side effect of telling a different story. So although this game is a bigger and more ambitious realization of "LoaPR"'s gameplay concepts, LoaPR doesn't become outdated or in need of an update, as its use of its elements remains appropriate. I'm hoping you'll all understand what I mean better when the game comes out, it's weird to vocalize.
Like I said in the intro, we are hoping that for next month's devblog I will be telling you guys to go play the demo. The demo will of course be free, be about 1/4th of the total game, and available on Steam first. You can wishlist the game now to be notified when the demo launches.
Both Norumeep and I have been very into Fallout: New Vegas lately. I played Fallout 3 around when it came out and it left like no impression on me, but New Vegas has been a ton of fun. I'm in my third playthrough right now and tempted to go for a fourth one.
Enjoy some LoaPR x New Vegas art Norumeep made. It isn't posted there but you can follow him on Instagram for more.
By far the funniest thing that has happened was when I was watching Norumeep finish his first playthrough, and when the ending cutscene started, an Enclave follower he had teleported with him to the ending slideshow room. We were in tears laughing the whole time. It's become an inside joke between us.
There's also been a lot of Tomodachi Life going on but somewhere underneath all of that is a project Norumeep and I have come to care quite a lot about, and we are both SO excited to share a snippet of it with you all.
LoaPR was a part of Psychodelic Fest this year on Steam and we saw a nice influx of new copies sold during that period, which is always nice to see. I'm very grateful to Skull Queens Games for including LoaPR in their event and their video showcase.
I've seen a few new reviews pop up on LoaPR's page and it really warms my heart to see. I appreciate every single person who has given their time and attention to my project. And so it is flattering to see people go even further and share their thoughts, make fanart, or replay the game.
It has been a really special experience, sharing this all. I am very excited to share with you more details about our current project, Laments of a Valiant Rose, which can be wishlisted on Steam. We're hoping to have a free demo out this summer. In early July, co-creator Norumeep will be attending a convention and passing out free Steam keys of LoaPR, so we're hoping to have the demo out by then.
