#Repost @thehoodsanta ・・・ Meet Maura she’s a street vendor in the City of Paramount. We stopped by her fruit stand to purchase a bunch of fruit and to give her T-shirts. She was soo kind. She was willing to take pictures with us. After talking with her, we found out that she’s an employee of somebody who owns the cart. Only taking home a portion of the sales. @bigsleeps and @localheartsfoundation is dedicated to championing the rights of street vendors. In our current cultural climate, it feels like people are attacking street vendors for just trying to make a living. We need your support! PLEASE READ BELOW URGENT❗️ Street Vendors are the backbone of many inner city economies. The economy would collapse without them. They provide for their families and communities, often with little to no assistance from other institutions that should be supporting them. In recent months we have seen an increase in the number of violent attacks on street vendors. Big Sleeps and Local Hearts Foundation has been providing direct assistance to individual street vendors as well as advocating with local governments on behalf of street vendor rights. Local Hearts also provides investment funds so that vendors can reboot their own business after an attack. ❗️It is so vital to keep our initiative alive.
