CW object death I guess
I just found out today that my all time favorite Museum Exhibit (Walk Through Georgia at Fernbank in Atlanta) is being retired. I've been going to this museum for more than 20 years and I go through this exhibit every time. I am very specifically attached to a video on plate tectonics that plays about halfway through the exhibit space.
It's called Worlds in Collision, it is excessively early 2000s, probably highly inaccurate compared with more modern research and it sent me hurtling into a lifelong love of volcanology.
There are other beautiful parts of the exhibit too. There's huge dioramas of the difference ecological areas of the state and enormous original canvas paintings of dinosaurs.
I'm devastated that I'm losing this. Which is why I'm putting it on my objectum sideblog because this is not an ordinary "well that sucks" feeling. I've been actively sobbing all morning and contacted the museum to see if I can get a copy of that video and just... I feel like I'm watching a friend die.
It fucking hurts.
