Celebrating appreciation of my clapping! I'm tickled pink to be nominated as Woman of the Month by Costa Women "for helping people to stay positive" during lockdown with my nightly live broadcasts from my roof terrace of the 8pm applause here in Spain. 👏👏👏 I whooped (I can't whistle!), I shouted, I sang, I danced, I blew bubbles, I opened my heart, I shared my good days and bad days but most of all I got so much back personally from connecting with people during that incredibly strict period of lockdown here in Spain... community got me through it. 👏👏👏 Some people joined me every single night of my Facebook lives. It became part of our lockdown routine. Each night I dedicated my clapping to recognise a different group of people. From our refuse collectors to those manning the filling stations. From the firefighters playing happy birthday to the kids to our chief of police dancing in the street to entertain us. From the children who never went out, not once, to those suffering lockdown totally alone. From sufferers of domestic abuse to those cooking hot meals for others in need. 👏👏👏 I was joined on my Facebook "lives" by up to 200 people a night! 3 mayors joined me that I know of, childhood friends I've not seen in decades and many people I've never met before from as far afield as Canada, the USA and Australia as well as connecting across Europe. Who'd have thought it?! 👏👏👏 These things happen by accident. You don't set out to achieve anything. You just do it. And it was an important part of my life. Turning a potentially negative time into a happy memory. This nomination was a lovely bonus, thank you so much @costawomen and those who nominated me. And huge congratulations to Alison the deserving winner. You are an awesome woman. I applaud you. #celebrantspain #costawomen #lockdownmemory (at La Herradura, Andalucia, Spain) https://www.instagram.com/p/CBxCA9wiagS/?igshid=4o7cqhpg3iky
