he’d felt gilderoy sit on the bed next to him. not that gil could see him, not really. remus was, as usual after a full moon, buried under three blankets, no part of his still transitioning body visible under the fabric. despite that, he moved, still wrapped in blankets, and placed his head on gilderoy’s lap. with his still animalistic hearing, he could hear the blood rushing through gil’s veins, and the sound was oddly comforting. he knew this was his lover comforting him, reminding him of what made him human while his body lingered between man and monster. while remus was not convinced of his own humanity, it was a comforting, knowing that gilderoy could find in him what remus could not see in himself.
he didn’t speak to reply, but hummed softly. a hum that shortly became a pathetic whimper of pain accompanied by a crack and spasm of pain. he settled, tracing the pain. left hand, still contorted in an odd position, but the hands were always near the end. he hummed again, scooching closer to gilderoy, silently asking him to stay until it was over. it would be over soon now, and it was easier to endure with gilderoy’s warmth so close at hand.
