OSHA Lockout Tagout Standard 1910.147(f)(2) - Outside Personnel (Contractors, etc.)
The requirements mentioned under section (f)(2) of the OSHA Lockout Tagout standard provides guidance to employers beyond the mutual informing of both parties regarding their respective Lockout Tagout procedures. In the standard preamble, OSHA states that the proper utilization of these provisions, when they are understood and agreed upon, is a way to prevent misunderstandings by either the plant employees or the outside service personnel regarding the use of Lockout Tagout procedures both in general and for specific application. Whenever outside servicing personnel/contractor are to be engaged in the servicing or maintenance activities, both, the on-site employer and the outside employer shall inform each other of their respective lockout or tagout procedures to avoid any conflicts later.
